Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Praecantatia decides to float back to Stephanie and Idhaenna, changing back to her larger size.

 

Idhaenna smiles as Praecantatia comes out.
"I'm proud of them. They've come so far, especially for mortals. What did you think about it?"

 

"You've given them a good work ethic. Almost as efficient as my golems." Praecantatia says, smiling.

 

"I found that making a system with intentional holes allowed for more flexibility. It's a bit tiring having to figure out what's going on with one mortal or another on a daily basis, but it keeps them happy. I think their smiles are growing on me, I've been softening up a bit lately." Idhaenna smiles, seeming proud.

 

"Did you get pierced?"
He takes a closer look at the blood.

 

"Well, be careful how much of that you show. Temporus has shown us...many things involved with being friendlier with mortals." Praecantatia says, zoning out briefly.

 

He moans, picking up his pace.

Idhaenna suddenly looks concerned.
"...You have a god of time?"

 

Praecantatia nods.

"A universe cannot exist without time and space." Praecantatia says.

 

Idhaenna sighs.
"I... don't take this the wrong way, but I'm sorry. I can't imagine what it's like being able to know what could have been instead of what is. I don't doubt that if we could reset every time something went awry, things would be drastically different... But here? Time flows. There is no god of time. Disasters happen, and we live on. We've secluded ourselves from mortals in the past. That ended in the overpopulation of the Void. Those repercussions still echo today. That's why we allow ourselves to interact with mortals."

 

"Things have been different, and fluctuations in the timeline have happened. Temporus' role is to make sure time flows correctly, and he's been trying to undo the various errors caused by a watch he owns to reverse time being stolen. He's lectured us many times on our inability to change time, lest we doom ourselves and the universe. How the thief of the watch managed to avoid dooming his timeline I have no idea. However, Temporus doesn't go around fixing events that might have a negative effect on some, or disasters for that matter. He knows how things should be, and he's there to make sure they stay like that. Imagine time as a machine and Temporus it's repairman." Praecantatia says.

"Without him, I doubt communication between our realities would be possible for us gods," Praecantatia adds, taking out her red cog necklace, "Only with his magic can our absence from our reality be covered. Without it, my reality would be collapsing; magic missing from it."

 

"Things definitely work differently. Thing is, there is nobody to say how things should be. We operate on our own, and we go with what works. When the great extinction struck all but Atavul, we didn't hesitate to make the switch to interacting with mortals. I don't know about the others, but I have no regrets about it. Mortals are interesting people."

 

"I find the most amazing thing is how they can have such a skewed view of reality as to thing there is only one god, one great creator who will greet them after they die if they've lead a good life." Praecantatia says.

 

"Oh, that's what caused the great extinction - they had no idea we were the gods. Yeah, have fun with that hole. Whoever your god of death is, make sure you give him some moral support because he'll get swamped in dead fools." Idhaenna sighs. "I seriously hope you're not overly attached to anyone. Fools call themselves martyrs when murder is on their mind."

 

"How did they all die?" Praecantatia asks.

 

"The one-god believing idiots wound up taking everyone else down with them. Atavul, however, had long made himself known, and he didn't suffer a single loss."

 

"I believe our realities are different enough as to not suffer that fate. The Shadows and Guardians control the population of humans enough." Praecantatia says.

 

"Controlling the population means little. Mortals excel above all else at killing each other. I wouldn't be surprised if Earth finds itself populated by artificial creatures and water guardians alone in a few years. However, you are correct, things may be different enough for that not to happen."
Pause.
"Anyhow, my apologies. I rarely get to speak my mind. Where were we in the tour?"

 

"You rarely get to speak your mind?" Praecantatia asks, surprised.

 

"Mortals may have come a long way under me, but the scale of things to us gods simply cannot be fathomed by those with limited lifespans."

 

Praecantatia nods understandingly, deciding to not further the topic.
