Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I was reccomended to come here to by Gaia, another goddess from my realiy. Apparently, like me, you like to dabble in magitech or the like?" Praecantatia asks.

The knight looks around, hoping to be left out of the conversation.

 

"Did you really not think about that?!"
He tries to calm the bee down.

 

"No, I didn't, I thought time would be slower, or I could just wake up, or I wouldn't need to wake up every day..."

"Heh, you came to the right girl. I regret to inform you it's mostly just tech, but my palace is a space station in relatively close orbit to a black hole."
Idhaenna does a quick soul scan of the knight, slowly growing suspicious.

 

"That's rather interesting. Do you keep it in orbit like a galaxy would?" Praecantatia asks, smiling.

The knight's armour seems to be protective against such magic, causing the scan to yield no results.

The knight walks a short distance away and taps a gem on their chestplate, causing it to glow. Various robotic-looking creatures appear around the knight. The knight readies their blade as one of the creatures charges at them. It appears to have a large wheel rather than legs for a lower body, and two small lances for arms. Some of the other more humanoid creatures begin running clockwise around the knight, occasionally firing a ring of energy toward them. A larger four legged creature somewhat resembling a tank slowly approaches as the knight is knocked down by the first creature.

 

"Yes, I do. I had to pull it further from orbit for repairs, though." She says, narrowing her eyes at the knight.
"Is... that your daughter or something?"

The creatures wind up getting vaporized by a six-railgun-toting robotic bee that just flew in.
"Desired population limit exceeded."
"EBB, GET THE HELL OUT, THOSE ARE GUESTS." Idhaenna snaps.
"Aborting directive." It utters, turning around and leaving hastily.

 

Praecantatia nods, glancing down at the knight.

"She almost killed herself a while ago by exhausting all of her magic, and she's been recovering slower than normal. I thought she might like a trip out, though," Praecantatia explains, sighing, "I worry about her. Had I not stepped in when I did, she would've died."

Oddly, the creatures appear to be unaffected, pausing and glitching for a moment before resuming what they were doing. One of the humanoid creatures runs clockwise into Praecantatia, and it appears to simply phase through like a hologram.

 

Idhaenna nods.
“I’m sorry about EBB. It’s a pain, but it’s worth the trouble in the long run.” She sighs, flicking a talon to bring up a holodisplay with a bowig human on it.
“Hey, would you keep EBB busy? I’ve got guests over.”
“Of course. For how long?”
“I’ll let you know.”
“Consider it done.”
The display closes.

“So... Gaia just got done slandering me a bit, and she sends you. I’m hoping you don’t wear down my patience, so I apologize in advance if I snap.”

 

"Slandering you? I didn't hear much negativity in what she told me." Praecantatia says, surprised.

 

“Slandering all of us, at the core of it. Blaming us for the Hive Master’s uprising. I suppose I can toss that aside for the time being, though, you are a different goddess.” She sighs, shaking her head.

“...Anyhow, where were we?”

 

"I was curious about the type of technology you produce. Different realities can cause...different paths to be taken." Praecantatia says, glancing down at Stephanie fighting the creatures.

 

“The type? Well, I’ve heard a few of my devotees say some Earth in your reality feels like the stone age. I could maybe introduce you to Stella, too, she’s pretty much the pride of the cosmos.”

 

"It's a shame to see the advancements of Earth be slow, though there are consequences to forcing progress." Praecantatia says.

Stephanie gets knocked through the air, landing hard. The crystal on her chestplate glows red, though she gets back up to keep fighting the tank-like creature.

 

Idhaenna nods, glancing at Stephanie.
“...If you could hold off scratching up my floor while there’s three solar reactors worth of power coursing through it, I’m sure I and everyone else in this station would appreciate it.” She says, more concerned than annoyed.

 

"Be mindful of the area you're training in, Stephanie," Praecantatia says with a slight stern tone, looking at Stephanie, "Don't worry about her weapon, it can only affect the projections."

 

“It’s the armor I’m worried about. I don’t know how strong of a barrier you have, but the amount of electricity going through the floor... well, let’s just say that heats the entire space station. I... doubt being in an oven that hot is healthy for anyone.” Idhaenna says, concerned. “That aside... I could show you around a bit, show you just a few pinnacles of our progress, or just introduce you to Stella.”

 

"I'd prefer all, if possible." Praecantatia says happily.

 

“Well, if you don’t have all that much of a time limit, we can start with the repair labs, grace a few arkships with our presence, visit a few different planets, and double check that the solar system currently being relocated is still perfectly fine before checking you in with Stella. Sound good?”

 

"Sounds wonderful." Praecantatia says, smiling.

 

"There isn't much to do now. The only thing you could do is go to the astral plane and check on your body."

 

“In that case, I just need to let everyone know I’m going to be busy. One second.”
Idhaenna raises the holodisplay, swipes it to the side, and pinches in on something.
“Attention station operators, I am leaving to give an honorable guest a tour of our stars. If you see us, please do not let us distract you excessively with our presence. Thank you.”

Idhaenna smiles.
“Well... shall we begin?”
