"Who would we trade with? Some bacteria on the moon?" David asks, laughing.

 

"Are you saying you are alone? Does Earth lack dryad, dragon, and fae?"

 

"Sgavrinn! Be careful with those plants!"

 

"Uh, Dryads are just forest guardians, everyone knows that. Dragons are extinct, unless you count fire guardians. Faeries are hard to find. They tend to avoid humans." David explains.

 

"Dragons are far from extinct. I could send one your way, if you'd like. Dryads are different than forest guardians, and fae still should be interested in trade every now and then if they live with you humans."

He moans back at you.

 

"Cool. Thank you."

He looks back at the bee.
"I think he'll be careful."

 

“Thank you, I’m sure it’ll calm a few of us down a bit.”

 

"Nobodies seen a dragon in decades, dude." David responds.

 

“Have you not noticed a town-sized dragon flying overhead on occasion?”

 

"I think most people would notice something like that." David says.

 

“Mind giving me your general location? I’ll make sure you notice this time around.”

 

"Uh, I'd rather not. I still don't really know you that well." David says.

 

"I'll respect that. If it's any comfort, I've discarded that piece of data. Your location was just part of figuring out how this website works. The encryption on all of this is pitiful, even the databanks are poorly secured. Their servers weren't even fast enough for me to make an account before I peeked at everything on here."
Pause.
"Of course, if you don't trust me, there's no sense in me being invasive towards you."

 

"Uh, that's kind of creepy." David says.

 

"You're free to believe I'm not a hyperadvanced AI from another reality. You're free to believe there are no dragons. Humans do typically appreciate living in a secluded pool of information."

 

"What are you implying?" David asks, sounding mildly annoyed.

 

"That you're living in the dark... well, metaphorically. Obviously you're not in the Realm of Shadows."

 

"What should I know then?" David asks.

 

"I will only tell you if you are willing. It should be hard to believe, but there's much to learn. However, I'll need you to trust me. I will reiterate - I am Stella, the AI behind StellarNet. I have hundreds of artificial moons for data storage and processing power. I alone am flight control for many galaxies, voice of non-spacefaring races who are meant to be oppressed by better-off species. I am the beautiful product of a mistake, and I am willing to reach out and share my database with you. Of course, with everything, you must trust me. You must be willing to speak your mind to me, and in return you will have the knowledge of countless worlds at your fingertips and a security algorithm that would protect you from all but a single cipher that I and I alone hold."
