Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“They’re on my head, figured I’d save you your usual spot. Still, you’re free to fly alongside me, just stay close through the Labyrinth. There’s probably a few too many starving chimera to count that’d snap at you for any bit of life energy they can get their teeth into.” Xlentia warns.

 

Crystal smiles back, struggling to scoop up some of himself in his hands, and the bits he does just sinks back into his hands.

 

"I'll provide them with food then, I hate to see things starve." Gaia replies.

Alex just watches, confused and curious.

 

Crystal starts to make figurines in his puddle, seemingly playing around.

 

Alex looks around for any dirt or rock nearby, though sighs when he can't find any.

 

“Whatcha lookin’ for?”
Crystal asks, keeping one eye on his figurines.

 

"Just some earth or stone. It's good to keep around for my powers." Alex says.

 

“Fair point.”
Crystal starts fiddling with his figurines again, making more.

 

Xlentia nods.
“I... I’m supposed to take care of them, but there are just too many. I’m already paying a decent mortal wage to get enough food for my servants alone.” She sighs, frustrated. “Anyhow... shall we begin?”

 

Alex just sits and waits patiently.

Gaia spreads her wings, ready to fly.

 

Xlentia leaps, though none of her passengers feel like they’re getting flung off.

She heads down the path towards an odd cube-like structure with twisted and torn walls, desperate eyes and bloody claws watching silently from within.

 

Gaia takes off beside Xlentia, winds carrying her as she flaps her wings to stay in the air.

 

Crystal stops fiddling to look at the takeoff, a bit amazed.

 

Gaia flies beside Xlentia, commanding the wind to assist her flight as she flaps her large wings. Gaia keeps her limbs close together to streamline her body and cause less aerial drag.

Alex looks a little paler whilst in the air, glancing around.

 

Xlentia tucks her wings in and slips in a comparatively narrow gap, not bothering to slow down as she begins weaving through the interior.

Inside are bones, chimera fighting their own bodies, and the occasional shriek of pain.


Ihra raises a claw and then pushes a pile of dirt towards Alex.
“You looked a bit bored.”

 

“Are yo- oh, it’s because we’re in the air, huh?”
Crystal looks toward Alex, concerned.

 

Gaia changes back to her forest guardian form, though grows around her shrinking wings to create ones of wood and leaves to stay in the air. As Gaia glides behind Xlentia, she releases spores from her extended hands, causing fruit-bearing plants of hundreds of types to grow where they land.


Alex grabs the dirt and seems to hug it.

"Thanks." Alex says, his pale face seeming to have colour return to it.

"Yeah, I need to be near ground or rock otherwise I'm powerless." Alex says, hugging a pile of dirt Ihra seems to have slid over to him.

 

“Mm.”
Crystal grunts, upset.
“You’ll be okay. I’m sure.”
Crystal says, happier.

 

Most of the chimera quickly devour the fruit and trees, a few looking at Gaia awkwardly as a couple jump at Gaia’s wings.


“Hang in there.”

 

"I hope so." Alex says, holding onto the dirt.

Gaia swirls out of the way, releasing a cloud of sweet smelling pollen to distract the chimera, any trees or fruit the pollen hits doubling their size and regrowing them.


Alex just rests his head on the dirt, looking exhausted.
