Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Sel flies into vision, looking concerned.

"You mean we're not going?" Sel asks, sounding sad.


Alex turns around.

"Really? Why not?" Alex asks.

 

Bardock laughs at the sight.
"Had enough?" He chuckles.

 

"My contact said that no, the queen wouldn't be coming. However, apparently there are laws against capturing and harming fae, and they're theoretically going to be better enforced from hereon out."


"Because I don't have any need for money."
Emerald pushes a few dozen tomes aside to offer Alex a handshake.
"Emerald, Head Librarian of the Void Palace. Nice to meet you, Alex."

He nods, moaning.

 

"Really?" Kia asks, flying up beside Sel, "I had no idea that was illegal. I just thought it was frowned upon."

"We can finally scavenge without needing to worry about being captured!" Sel says happily.


"Nice to me-" Alex says, ready to accept the handshake before stopping, "How do you know my name?"

 

"Well, don't go out immediately. Give the queen some time, she seemed busy."


"You stepped foot in this palace. I track everyone in here, make sure they stay out of trouble." Emerald says. "I've found that the best way to make sure there are no overdue books are to know exactly who checked them out and where to find them."

 

"Oh, ok." Sel says, though still sounding excited.


"I...don't like the idea of having everything known about me instantaneously." Alex says nervously.

 

Pozel smiles.
"Can you make sure Gil heard me?"


"I just swipe your name and home planet. If you somehow disabled a rune or two on a book, I'd let you know, then let your god or shadows have a crack at retrieving the book before going in myself - and I don't think you really want a pissed off librarian at your doorstep. Especially not with one who has thousands upon thousands of ancient relics and weapons of myth and folklore at their clawtips." She says offhandedly. "On the other hand, stay on good terms with me, and every inkling of knowledge in my library is open to you... complete with showings of the very weapons and relics spoken of in storybooks."

 

Bardock himself drinks a little more and then holds out the hose.
"I think you can put it out now. Or do you want some too, ferret?"

 

The ferret shakes his head and runs off, the hose turning off a few seconds later.

By the time he gets back, he looks a bit flustered.
"Uh... could you help me carry the hose back?"

 

"I heard." Gil shouts, sounding depressed.


"U-Uh, Shadows a-are truced w-with us!" Alex says, stepping back nervously.

 

"I'm sorry, there's only so much I can do."


"Their king has learned that it's best not to keep me angry. Besides, you'd have to destroy several books to make me that agitated. I can rewrite and replace 6000 books a day, so there's room for forgiveness."

 

"It's fine." Gil shouts.


"F-Forgiveness, yeah." Alex says, intimidated.

 

Pozel seems a bit concerned, but goes back in Gil's room before looking at the monitor again.


"Hey, don't worry about it. I only go hard on earth guardians at first because they tend to be stubborn. Unless you take out an entire bookshelf, you'll be fine. Books are runed to automatically return when you can't borrow them any longer."

 

The monitor seems to have turned itself off.


"O-Ok, um...I, uh...I'm sorry, but I'll need to be leaving." Alex says, before quickly walking away.

 

Pozel heads down into the living room, curious.


"T-thanks!" The dryad calls out nervously after her.

 

The TV seems to be showing a comedy about a real life family in the past, Gil slumped on the sofa as Kia and Sel follow Pozel.

Alex looks around for the training rooms, his heard pounding and adrenaline rushing.

 

"Yeah, ofcourse. You watch Sgavrinn while I'm gone?"

 

“Well, it’s still new for me.”

 

Pozel tosses a core towards Gil before peeking outside.


There's a spirit and a pink crystal golem waiting outside a room, maybe he could ask them?

"I mean... fair enough."

"He won't eat me, will he?"
Sgavrinn just sighs.

 

Gil catches it, looking at it confused.

A pale looking forest guardian wanders by outside, looking around weakly.


Alex walks over to the spirit.

"Excuse me, spirit?" Alex asks.
