"Well, you've said you've wanted to become a robot, so she could be like your literal parent program." Gil says.


"The one who created Gaia? I don't think any...being created Gaia. She's just sort of...part of our universe." Alex tries to explain.

 

“No, I actually don’t know her very well.”

 

"He can grow plants himself, but he's being a bit stubborn."

 

"That's the other comparison. We couldn't quite get emotions to come out right until Stella accidentally digitized herself and they couldn't get her out. So, technically she's a mother in that sense to any robot with AI we've made."


"I'm talking here, not your home. All of the high gods were created by the same being."

"Maybe he wants water too?"
Sgavrinn moans.

"Hm. She seems to drag a lot of people around everywhere. Thought maybe you were part of the crowd."

 

"I don't know. You can get some, but I don't think he'll drink it."

 

Sgavrinn lazily lifts a wing and drops it on your head. It doesn't hurt, but he's definitely giving you an attitude.
"...I'll bring him some anyways. Worst case scenario, I use it to water the plants."

 

"Stella was once a person?" Gil asks.


"That's...weird. So you have one omnipotent being?" Alex asks.

 

"You're not really helping, Sgavrinn. Is there a problem?"

 

"Yep. She accidentally made her teleportation security key a loop, so she never actually redigitized."


"According to the archives. I think there's, like, four of them. I haven't seen any of them, obviously. They're super reclusive."

Sgavrinn puts his tongue in your empty water cup.

 

"Yeah yeah, water is on the way. Just be patience."

 

"You've got to be careful with loops." Gil nods.


"Why did they make lesser gods then?" Alex asks.

 

He yawns, nuzzling you after he closes his mouth.

"Anyhow, she wound up integrating herself with the program, and she grew from there. At first, she was mostly intent on getting herself back to normal, but after about a year, she gave up on selfish acts and started giving more information to less fortunate planets."


"Probably for the same arbitrary reason mortals were made." Ihra shrugs.

 

"She isn't still looking for a way to become human again?" Gil asks, suspicious.


Alex looks like he's about to respond, before going into thought.

 

“She wasn’t human, but no. She decided that she didn’t need a physical body to pursue her ideals, and thus she started a technological arms race that ended exactly how she wanted it to - connecting colonies and settlements left in the dark to the entire combined knowledge bank far more advanced groups had.”


“Don’t think about it too much. Philosophy is annoying.”

 

“Sorta. Crystal’s mainly part of that crowd, and I followed him.”

 

"That...sort of sounds like what the Realm of Light was condemned for doing." Gil says.


"Perhaps Lady Gaia- ah, my Lady Gaia could answer the question." Alex says.

 

“...Mind if I meet him?”

“Giving opportunities to the oppressed is condemnable here?”


“But her reason might be different than my Gaia, which is why this is a really weird thing to mull over.”

 

“Like, right now? Sure.”

 

“Sure, if it works out.”

 

"Well, they weren't doing that, sort of...making one huge computer controlled hivemind." Gil says.


"That's true." Alex nods.
