Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

He smiles.
"No, I just made a rock able to think for itself, then taught it some stuff. I usually have golems run my place, but Crystal's one-of-a-kind."

 

"Did you seriously throw it at me? You could have just handed it over."
He drinks the remaining water.

 

"...Just a news report. Some band of pirates managed to sneak through to protected space. Two reported survivors out of an entire passenger shuttle." He sighs, still focused on the hololens.


"It's fine. You might be going home with extra coin, I guess. Not like she has a use for several planetary masses of gold and diamonds. Guess a big dragon has scaled up dragon tendencies, though." Ihra shrugs.

"That he is, that he is. You make him for fun, or for a reason?"

"No, I stopped to fast and it splashed out."
The cup's still almost completely full. At least, until you wind up downing it rather quickly.
"Do you want more?"

 

"That's troubling to hear." Gil says.


"Well I'd have to share it with others if that's the case." Alex says happily.

 

"He was originally some stupid experiment I made up 'cause I was bored. That's about it, really."

 

"Yeah. Maybe another cup will be enough."
He hands the cup over to the ferret.

 

"Alright"

 

"From diplomats stepping down in protest to rogues figuring out ways to slip through scans, I might've chosen a really good time to leave home." He mumbles.


"That'd probably make her happy. She's not too fond of people who think she's evil."

"I'll send a bottle up on the lake when I figure something out. Technically I could just try and race you over to my house, but we'd both get thrown out and I don't have any crazy demon powers to defend myself out here."

He takes it and runs off again, coming back again a minute later.
"Just let me know if you need more."

"You must've been really bored." Maqo laughs.

 

"Yeah, sounds like you might want to keep off radar for a bit." Gil says.


"Can gods even be evil?" Alex asks.

 

"Yeah, being able to have most of everything at your fingertips kinda does that to you."

 

"...I'm more worried about Stella."


"Since evil is subjective, yeah probably. Besides, when your job is to destroy planet after planet and cause extinction after extinction, it's not hard to be hated."

"You ever bother making something new?"

 

"I invent things all the time. I made that blue stuff that I used in our fight."

 

"I'm surprised Emerald hasn't been at your throat trying to get you to fight the Hive Master, in that case."

 

He shrugs.
"I fight in the battles I hear about."

 

"Why?" Gil asks.


"I...can see that as being evil in a sense." Alex says.

 

"No, this is enough. Thank you."
He drinks the glass of water.

 

"She's more than just an AI to a lot of tribes. If something's wrong with her, you probably kill off entire tribes along with trillions of other beings with implants. If it wasn't for her, most tech would still be horrifically expensive."
Pause.
"That's why I tell people she's sort of like a mother to us all at home. She... tends to use her maintenance budget on buying things for the less fortunate. I've got a friend who would've died if she was nothing more than a soulless AI."


"When you were born to do something, given the tools to do so, and told to do it, you tend to do it."

It's not quite as cold as the first, but that might just be the water starting to evaporate off your face.
"Does your friend need anything?"

"Did that Ihra lady drag you around anywhere?"

 

"That's...different." Gil says, not sure what to say.


"Wouldn't that make the will that drives her power evil, rather than the goddess herself?" Alex asks.

 

"He likes to eat plants, preferable flowers."

 

"...Sorry. I just get sick of everyone asking me why I'd think some AI is treated like an intergalactic mother."


"Only if you deem the one who created Gaia evil."

"Maybe I shouldn't bring him into the garden? Well... maybe I could find something else for him to eat."
