Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Voidfiller encases the blade in wood, tugging on it.

 

“Tech develops fast, I guess.”


“The threat’s gone, but that doesn’t mean I feel safe. Especially now that they want me out of retirement.”

The blade’s sharp, seeming mostly ethereal. Its edge cuts through the wood, the rest of the sword phasing through.

 

"Extremely." Gil nods.


"Why are you in retirement anyway? That's for old people who can't be bothered to work anymore." Abigail asks.

 

“It’s strange, though... the gap between worlds that can be right next to each other.”


“Are you saying I don’t fit those two conditions?”

 

"Well, our worlds are quite different. I didn't even realise people from other realities could even come here." Gil says.


"Well, you don't really seem to give a shit about working." Abigail shrugs.

 

“I was a bit surprised there were other realities so close.”


“And I’m probably older than every elder guardian combined, so there’s that component. What about wondering why I retired again?”

 

"If you can consider spatial relativity a thing outside of reality." Gil shrugs.


Abigail just laughs, amused.

 

“Someone had to make things.” Pozel shrugs. “Someone, or something.”


Alice smirks.
“Anyhow, how’s the tea? I’m finding that metals are a good way to increase potency without resorting to toxic plants.”

 

"Cause I'm not that fast and Sgavrinn is tired."

 

Gil just shrugs, giving a confused look.


"It's kinda weird drinking metal. It tastes great, but the metal makes it taste a little bit like blood." Abigail says.

 

“...I don’t know how to continue with that.” He shrugs. “Sorry.”


“I might just sell it to the shadow palace and make another millennia of retirement money.”

“But you’re asleep!”

 

"Yeah..." Gil says, not really certain how to continue the conversation either.


"Surely doing nothing is going to get boring after a while though, right?" Abigail asks.

 

“Well... what’re you working on now?”


“Haven’t yet.”

 

"I was just coding a simple game to practice. Maybe I'll be able to get a job with it." Gil shrugs.


"So...you just sit around all day making tea?" Abigail asks.

 

The broken pieces of wood shift into a small blockade of sorts as Voidfiller backs up, digging a hand through his pack.

 

"Still.. I can't run."

He pauses for a moment.
"Wait, now that I think about it, I've never actually tried running."

 

“Can I see it?”


“That, sort files, help the fae, sleep, sneak around inside Aj.”

He can’t find anything new, it seems.
The blade ignites, spreading slowly.

“If you can dream it, you can do it here. Just run!”

 

"Alright then. Sgavrinn, you okay with staying here?"

He tries to position himself into the ground, ready to take off.

 

“You can do it!”
Sgavrinn whines in complaint.

 

"There's not much to really see yet, and there won't be in the end either." Gil says, smirking as he boots up a terminal and types in a command. A small wall of text appears, reading "Generic Fantasy Quest 1 - Start 2 - Load 3 - Quit"


"Wait, inside Aj? Are you two weirdly fucking or something?" Abigail asks.
