“Alright. How many people have you met on this quest of yours?”

 

"That's creepy." Sel says, looking scared.


The door opens smoothly and silently, a guard glancing at her, standing across from her door.

 

"...What?" Nebe asks, confused.
You still can't see her.

"Which quest?"

"It just means we can't replace the battery."


She approaches them.
"Where'd the others go off to?"

 

"The quest of knowing individuals behind weapons."

 

"What happens to the battery after it runs out then?" Sel asks.


"Miss Abigail is currently in the training area, Miss Katie is currently in the pool, Miss Artemis and His Majesty are with Miss Claire in her personal room." The guard says.

 

"Eh, nevermind. What's with all the spirits floating around?"

 

"Thousands, so far."

"This is our home. What's with the dragon?"

"To honor the Auto, we just leave it be. Usually their home is just left the way it was when they died, but sometimes if an Auto expires somewhere else, they're brought home and laid to rest in their bed."


"Would you mind telling me where Claire's room is?"

 

"Nice work."
I smile.

 

"I promise nothing of their wellbeing, but I've gone out of my way to speak to thousands. I suppose I'm still a scarred and angry demon at heart." She shrugs.

 

“Well, you can’t exactly go up against a god by yourself.”

 

"Like I said, he kind of follows me around. Is that a problem?"

 

"True. The one thing I have to agree with the Hive Master on, though, is that some of the methods the gods have in place are garbage."

"Not now. Does he think he's a lost puppy or something?"

 

"No, he just likes to spent time with me whenever I sleep."

 

“He probably has a point there. But it’s no reason to start mind-controlling everybody.”

 

"...That's sort of creepy. Anyhow, I suppose I should explain what this place is, since you seem to be utterly confused. In short, this is dreamland. It's something between the physical and spirit planes, and... I don't know how it works, but we seem to find a lot of people coming here while in a coma."

 

"Wouldn't that create a lot of houses with dead bodies?" Sel asks.


"Second floor in the northeast quadrant of the palace." The guard says.

 

"No, I agree he's gone overboard, but I'm willing to push his ideals. Besides, what's the phrase, the road to purgatory is paved with good intentions? Something like that, I think."

"There's only about a hundred left... so, no."


"What destination name should I look for in the elevator book?"

 

"Sgavrinn lead me here. He just.. started digging a hole and then we dropped down a few minutes from here."

He looks around.
"But, Nebe, where are you?"

 

"Left? Are they dying out?" Sel asks, sounding concerned.


"'Young Lady Claire's Room', I believe." The guard says.

 

"Heh, you're telling me that beast knew how to get here? Huh... maybe he's not so bad after all. As for where I am... look up."

Looking up reveals a guard standing on the ceiling as if gravity was flipped... which, for them, it seems to be.
"Or down... The only sense of above and below that really exists is whether or not you're above or below the Plains."

"Thanks."
Ihra heads off to the elevator and looks through the book for that name, then puts in the combination.
