"I guess, but they usually back them up with proof." Kia says.


"Yes, Ihra?" Gaia responds.

 

"Usually?"


"Is Mortius okay?"

 

Kia sighs.

"Always." Kia says.


"Yes, he's fine." Gaia responds, a little confused.

 

"I didn't mean for it to be critical. I've never seen this before, a-"
Pozel stops, thinking.


"Oh, okay... Artemis seemed confused, I think. I was catching raindrops with my tongue, then her and Abigail and Aj came up to me and started talking. Something something Mortius, something god, something something woke something. I think."

 

Kia glances at Pozel, a little surprised by his sudden silence.


Gaia hums understandingly, before cutting the connection.

 

"...Would you mind if I spent a few nights here? I could figure out some way to compensate if need be."


Ihra blinks.
"Okay, yeah. I think she's angry."

 

"You'd probably need to ask Gil and Sel about it, but I don't mind. I think we might have an extra mattress somewhere." Kia says.


"She is?" I ask, sounding slightly worried.

"Typical, I finally get back to the world of the living and I'm going to get killed again." Abigail sighs.

 

"No need, I can digitize myself if you need the space."


"Well, while you're up, you should visit Ruby. Let her know that she's not stuck in her shell body for nothing."

 

"Oh, that's convenient." Kia says.


"I remember Ruby. I feel like we've talked a lot, I just can't remember when or where." Abigail says, thinking.

"We should probably get out of the rain. I'm sure Katie will be happy to see you." Artemis says.

 

"Do you know where the others would be?"


"Yeah, I've caught enough raindrops. Plus, I think there's someone else who would like to meet you... and I think Aj really doesn't like her."

 

"Probably in their rooms." Kia says.


"Who?"
"Who?" Abigail and I ask in unison.

 

"Which are...?"


"Rose. You know, the succubus trying to make another life for herself over on Earth."

 

"Upstairs, right for Gil, two lefts for Sel." Kia says.


"Oh yeah, her." I say, groaning.

"And you want to introduce me to her...why?" Abigail asks.

 

"Thanks." Pozel says, heading off for Gil's room and knocking if the door's closed.


"She wants to meet the people she's going to wind up fighting. She's bizarre, but kind of nice."

 

There's a brief moment before Gil opens the door.

"Oh, hey. What's up?" Gil asks, looking at Pozel while hovering in the doorway.


"So I'm going to have to fight her at some point? I don't even have my weapons." Abigail says, sounding a little sad.

 

"Hey, I was gonna ask if you'd be okay with me spending a few nights here."


"No need to worry about that." Rose says, stepping from a portal Ihra seems to have made. "I left mine at home, and your friends were graceful enough to leave me unscathed. I would hardly be worthy of a second chance at lifestyle choice if I didn't do the same."

 

"Oh, sure thing. Make yourself at home." Gil says happily.


"What do you want?" Abigail asks bluntly.

 

"Thanks." Pozel says, smiling.
"...Do you want me to close the door again?"


"Well, your name, for one. Introductions are awkward without knowing names." She shrugs. "Also to remind Aj that I'm just dying in wait for him to seal the deal to Artemis with a ring." She winks.

 

"If you could that'd be nice." Gil says.


Artemis and I turn a little red; Artemis' red face more visible comparatively.

"Uhm...I...uh..." I stutter.

"Abigail." Abigail says.

 

Pozel nods, closing the door on his way out and heading to Sel's room, also knocking.


"Well, it's nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you from mourning families, but you're a lot... less abominated chimera-ish than they described." She says with a smile, offering a handshake.

"As for you two, you're already a cute couple, why not make it official?"
