Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

He heads to the castle.
"I guess this is Anne's home. Why am I dreaming about it?"

 

"Don't take it as a compliment. Calling a succubi or incubi attractive is like calling the ocean blue." Shadow Stephanie says flatly.

 

Maybe you can ask someone else later. You know, when there's someone else to ask.

Inside, there's a throne made out of porcelain that's about big enough for a fox to curl up on it, as well as various flowerbeds that seem to have been dug up over and over, and replanted just as many times.

"That's a joke, right? Half of my kind needs magic just to swoon a homeless pervert. Besides, anything out of your mouth that isn't an insult is a compliment, miss I-don't-care-let-me-shrug-at-you." Rose sighs.

 

"You must be pretty shit then." Shadow Stephanie says, performing her signature shrug.

 

"You know, I wanted to come and feel sympathetic for you, seeing as Aj's getting all the limelight, all the light resistance, all the extra powers. I wanted to come find a person who was jealous or at least felt emotions when I met you... I didn't expect a jackass who would explain exactly why she got none of the attention the other royal shadow did." Rose sighs. "I'm willing to put this aside and act like this conversation never happened, but that means nothing if you're only willing to believe I'm just some heartless prostitute."

 

"Look, I stopped giving a shit about my envy of Aj when he started acting like a child. Sure, I want his powers of sunlight resistance, sure, I want his limelight, but he's off poncing about while I'm back here doing all the paperwork so this kingdom doesn't break down after it was almost ripped apart. Save your sob story and your insults. Go pester Aj. I'm past my petty envy of wanting to be in Aj's throne, because I've probably done more work than him than he or the kingdom realizes. You know who got all the guards back on patrol after a lot of them were killed? You know who got things rolling for the reconstruction of the city? It sure as hell wasn't the guy prancing about in the forest having picnics with his girlfriend!" Shadow Stephanie snaps.

 

Rose smiles.
"There's the person behind the curtain. However, that's why I wanted to talk. Unless you're one of the rare people who enjoys being insulted, nobody likes their lines crossed. I want to know you for who you are, not what you are. Besides, I can't pester him if he's not here."

 

"Oh please, degrade me more mother, I'm almost there." Shadow Stephanie says, rolling her eyes.

 

"Didn't she burn down this place?"
He inspects the castle some more.

 

"Hmm... I didn't think of that. Do you royal shadows have families? I didn't think shadows reproduced. You seem more like a created-from-a-god race."

It's simple, everything made out of grass, twigs, and leaves, but it's still a bit cute how a bunch of foxes made their own palace-type building.
As for the porcelain, the seat of the throne is scorched black. Probably from Anne lighting herself on fire.

 

"If that were true, we'd all be the same gender. We reproduce, and we all have families. Our goddess started the turn of events that lead to us being created though." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Trust is a lacking commodity in some sectors. I only wish for it to flourish between us and Geneson."

 

"You'd... what? Nevermind... I might have to beg you not to banish me from here, shadows seem rather interesting. More than just murder and mutilation, and probably worth making a few more widows getting permission to be behind enemy lines, as Atavul calls it. I don't see what's all so bad about you lot, though." Rose shrugs. "Well, I'll leave you to your paperwork. I might work on guilt tripping Aj to pull his weight a bit next time I find him."

"As nice as it'd be, the closest thing you'll get to that is trust between you and Geneson. You can't convince the masses if you don't brainwash them."

 

"I don't know what I'm supposed to do with this information. ANYONE?"

He looks around.

 

"Sure, go ahead. Don't be surprised when he stabs you though." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

Rose laughs.
"Oh, you're silly. I've died too many times to count, not like it matters much. The only reason I try to avoid it is that I need to get my dress remade every time since nobody ever bothers returning it. Pricks..."
She turns towards the doors of the throne room.
"What is it, Earth? Is that what the other planet is called?"

 

Shadow Stephanie nods.

 

Still nobody.
The "palace" only takes the space between four trees, the rest of your surroundings looking like a stereotypical forest; trees, foliage, and so on... minus any other creatures.

"I assume you aren't fond of me coming back here just to visit this Earth? I find peacetimes far more interesting than war-torn ruins."
Pause.
"...Funny how I'd be asking my enemy if I can use their realm to escape the heat of my home."

 

"Don't be a bitch and you're fine. What happens here stays here." Shadow Stephanie says, sounding serious.

 

"I was thinking of taking my officiant service someplace where the 'till death do us part' vows didn't take a few months to get to that point."
Pause.
"...I don't suppose you'll have any weddings here anytime soon."
