Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I'm just a little distracted I guess." I say, steam starting to rise from the teapot. I pour Alice a cup of green colour tea, as well as a cupful for myself too.

 

Alice takes a whiff of the tea before taking a small sip.
"I doubt that. Is this about my mood?"

 

The tea smells mossy, as well as grassy and with a hint of fruit. The tea tastes like standard mint at first, before slowly blending into a fruity tea, and then like strong aniseed and fennel, before finally blending into a sort of sweet mushroom aftertaste.

"Partially." I say, sipping my own cup of tea.

 

She takes another sip.
"I'd only worry if you don't tell me where you got this. My shelf of 'better than decent' tea needs a bit more variety."

 

"Take a guess." I say, sipping my tea.

 

"Artemis would be my guess, unless Ali did something behind my back."

 

"You're right." I say, nodding.

 

"I might ask her for a blend or two. I'm getting spoiled by the potency of extremely toxic plants, anyways."


Mary sits on the shore of the island, letting her tail be moved with the waves as she keeps her ruin above the waterline and looks off into the distance.

 

"Yeah, those are addictive." I comment.


A few gulls squawk overhead, the sun reflecting off of the salty turquoise water.

 

"I've had Ali make me a batch with five different toxins with delayed releases and a touch of cocoa. Sweet Tenebrae you need to try that."


She heads a bit further into the water, keeping her ruin in one spot as she bobs up and down with the waves, ducking underwater to look at any sealife below.

 

"I'd rather not go back to taking poison." I say, looking off into the forest.


There's patches of coral where fish swim about, crabs scuttling about on the sandy floor nearer Mary. A few water guardians swim about further into the ocean, some lazily walking through the water while others propel themselves with fishtails.

 

"You distill it. Seldom is the toxin itself the strength of the flavor."


She watches the water guardians with a bit of envy, trying to hide her ruin.

 

"Hm." I say, sipping my tea.


None of the water guardians notice her, leaving her be.

 

"You should also experiment with blood in tea."


She heads back up on shore, looking for the sanctuary entrance, hoping the chief isn't busy.

 

"Tried it, I prefer them separate." I say.


The entrance is, as usual, extremely hard to find, but Mary manages to find it eventually. The chief appears to be busy, however.

 

"Thanks for the tip. I'll keep in mind not to encounter them."

 

"To each their own."


She waits, looking for a line or an opening to approach.

"You don't really get a choice, you just hope that they don't try and bite you from below."

 

"Mm." I hum, distracted.


Eventually the chief seems to become free, leaving an opening for Mary.

 

"I can probably hear something, right? How big are those things anyways?"

 

She tries to figure out what you're focused on.


"E-excuse me, sir? Do you have a minute?"
