"Cool. Mind if I take a look to see what case files are left in the palace?"

 

"I'll have to sort through all the mimic files honestly." I say.

 

"Think they're set up as traps?"

 

"Yeah, to gather food for their mother. I'm pretty sure all those gangs you busted when you joined were fed to her." I say.

 

"Perhaps having Eve do it in your place would be safer?"

 

"Why? It's just case files, I don't think they put eggs in them." I say.

 

"Wasn't the whole issue that they caught you by surprise? If there were eggs in the case files, then they'd get you by surprise. Again."

 

I sigh.

"Fine, I'll get Eve to sort through them." I say, rolling my eyes.

 

"I have faith in you, but right now I'd honestly just like to incinerate the entire room because I have clean copies of most non-trivial case files that I wrote up myself when I'd sneak in."

 

"If you're that paranoid then I'll get Eve to do that too." I say.

 

"You're my king, just order me to shut up and do it yourself anyways." Alice chuckles.

 

"Alice..." I say, sighing heavily.

 

"Wait... you talked with Rema?!"

 

"I can tell you haven't missed me all that much." She smiles.

"Alice, shut up." I order, before smiling back.

 

"Yes, my king." She chuckles.

 

"God, it's still weird when someone like you says that." I say, laughing a bit.

 

"I had to agree to listen to you when I took the job, what did you expect? Constant compliance?"

 

"No, it's just...never mind." I say, smiling.

 

"Oh, come on. I'm still inferior to you, may as well exploit that like every other royalty ever."
