Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Why don't we call in a forest guardian to test this out versus a more... standard... bow?"

 

"You could go out and ask one, but I wouldn't think many people would be out in this snow." Vexa says.

 

"In that case, what's wrong with it? I don't understand what you mean by bad for accuracy."

 

"It isn't necessarily, but automatic bows just seem a bit...wrong." Vexa says.

 

Ruby waves her hand over it.
"Alright, just retrieves arrows now."

 

"Let's go."
He starts heading down the hill, back to the cave.

 

“I guess I should be taking my leave, then.”
I say, looking towards Shadow Stephanie and trying to check the cleanliness of her face and hands.

 

Vexa nods approvingly.

Shadow Stephanie's mouth, neck and upper chest is covered in blood, and her hands look like they've been dipped in red paint.

 

I get out my rag.
“But clean yourself off, first.”
I toss her the rag.
“Or at least make an attempt.”

 

"Won't I dirty your rag?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

“I’ll clean it. Cloth’s a wondrous thing, really.”
I joke.

 

The three follow you into the cave, though another dragon watches you from the ridge.

Ruby smiles.
"Okay... uh..."
She looks at the next contract.

 

"Alright. Need to keep an eye on that." He thinks before heading further into the cave.
"Miss dragoness?"

 

"Close to godliness..." Shadow Stephanie mutters as she wipes the blood off of her face, neck and chest, before rubbing her hands off with the rag. Shadow Stephanie tosses you back your (now bloodsoaked) rag.

It seems to be for an odd longsword, described as with "retractable and extendable abilities, easily hideable"

 

I catch it, then put it back in my pocket.
“I’d say ‘bye for now’, but I’m pretty sure I should still take the palace’s portal room back to the Void Palace.”

 

"Yeah, I'll come with you to see if it's up and running after the lockdown." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

I jump off the roof, take a second after landing, then start going to the palace. I look back to see if Shadow Stephanie is following.

 

"That...just goes to show how out of it you are. You're talking to air."

 

"It... wouldn't be the first time, buuut... you kinda look like a demon soul. Did you, uh... like, fall or something?"
Their confusion is legitimate, but they're not buying you acting like you're a figment of their imagination.

Ruby pauses.
"...Do you know who requested this?"

She looks up, herding her young behind.
"...You were serious."
"Did you tell him you were going to kill him if something happened?"
"Yeah, did you?"
"I'm more worried about your husband."
"Oh, I would be too."

 

"I told you guys that I can't protect you if you hurt the children."
He looks at the dragoness.
"And yes, I told them about your husband."
