Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yeah, I think he's got rid of...whatever caused all of this." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

She takes twelve ingots and four emeralds, then an extra steel ingot. She turns the steel into some kind of thread and the rest into a bow that has decorative leaves as a sort of sight assist and etchings of squirrels and birds on the bow limb, as well as four runes.
"Okay, bow made, string made, now for four arrows."

 

"Only four?" Vexa asks.

 

“That’s... comforting.”
I comment, looking around.

 

"If they ever need more than two, I have little respect for them as an archer."

 

People seem to be coming out of their homes, and filtering in from the center of the city. Above, you can see a familiar robot flying overhead.

"It's not always about accuracy though. What if they're surrounded by multiple foes, and can't run to collect their arrow?" Vexa asks.

 

Ruby takes a steel ingot, makes it into an arrow with a rune on the metal fletching, then fires it through the remains of the stone dummy, drawing back again as the arrow reappears already nocked on the string.
"Because magic."

 

"Then four is an acceptable amount." Vexa nods.

 

Ruby smiles, repeating the process for three arrows.
"Consider including instructions. Two fingers, one arrow. Three, two. Five, all four arrows."

 

"Oh, they don't need to nock multiple?" Vexa asks.

 

They don't ever need to nock."

 

"Wouldn't that throw off aim?" Vexa asks.

 

Ruby keeps drawing back the bow, firing about an arrow a second into the floor, albeit all in the same tiny circle.
"The small leaves also act as a sight, slightly bending the light to sort of zoom in the further you draw back."

 

"I'll see what they think of it, but it seems awfully...human." Vexa says.

 

"Then I'll add one more feature." Ruby says, snapping.

She nocks an arrow normally, and it seems to combine with another to allow the bow to be drawn back further.
"This should be good for puncturing about half a meter of solid steel."

 

Vexa looks at it awkwardly, though doesn't comment.

 

Ruby slowly releases the tension, removing the two arrows.
"Call it weird, but there's only so much you can do with this little material."

 

Vexa sighs.

"Alright." She says.

 

"What would you rather I enchant it with? If you say artillery capabilities, no."

 

"Something for more precise shots?" Vexa suggests.
