Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Startled, she jumps and whips out a dagger.

 

Shadow Stephanie heads down into a pitch black tunnel, only the red glow of Shadow Stephanie's eyes visible when she turns around to look at you.

 

"I'll try."
Cole tries to keep his footsteps quiet, but the snow crunches with his (and your) every step.

 

A bird flaps outside Alice's window, looking a bit dazed and confused before it flies around Alice's home.

 

I try to follow the best I can.
"What do you think is going on?"
I whisper.

 

"I think the palace has gone on lockdown or something." Shadow Stephanie says quietly, extending a hand behind her for you to hold.

 

Bardock, without a word, continues moving forward.

 

I hold it.
"What criteria does an entire palace have to have for it to go on lockdown?"

 

"Invasion, war, treachery, a dangerous threat, those sorts of things." Shadow Stephanie says, guiding you through the tunnel.

 

I nod, continuing to walk.

 

There's nothing to see for a while, until a set of strong magic barriers light up some of the dark tunnel, a door at the end of them.

 

I continue to let Shadow Stephanie take the lead.

 

Shadow Stephanie leads you through the barriers, able to pass through them easily. Shadow Stephanie pushes open the door slowly, a lot of dirt falling in and around as it opens out onto a hill near the Shadow Palace.

 

I look towards the Shadow Palace, checking its condition.

 

From an external view, it seems to be mostly fine, though there aren't any guards by the gates, or air guardians near the top.

The door Shadow Stephanie opened slowly closes by itself, all the dirt floating back to it's original position, like someone hit the rewind button.

 

"To the palace?"

 

Ren figures that the crate can probably squeeze through the door, albeit just barely.

Terrae waits for the artists to leave before writing a letter to the general that questioned him about Ren.

The contents include an explanation as to the great service that Ren did by finding the ships, as well as by providing a significant amount on information about Draconians, and also inspiring several intellectuals to begin their own research.

 

"Something's definitely wrong here." Shadow Stephanie says, looking toward the city.

 

"No kidding. Let's go."
I start making my way there.

 

Shadow Stephanie follows, though there doesn't seem to be anyone around.

Closer to the city, there appears to be the corpse of a water guardian, a large hole in their chest and head, like acid had been poured on them.

"Jesus christ, who did this?" Shadow Stephanie asks, looking at the corpse.
