"Nineteen? Never got the chance."

 

"Damn. He seems like an interesting character." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Not really. What do you need?"

 

"...That's a word for it."
I continue along.

 

"Would you like me to up ahead? Because I'd rather stay with you two, for now."

 

"Alice wanted you to contact Tenebrae, since she's worried about Aj fighting the mimics." Artemis says.

"I mean, we both seem to love murder, so I just thought we'd get along." Shadow Stephanie shrugs.

 

"I don't think he'd get along with anybody."

 

"Actually, why aren't you so...aggressive?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

"Simply because I was made correctly. Just, without eyes."

 

"Right, you use some kind of earth guardian vibration sense or whatever." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"What? No, I just don't have eyeballs, or eyelids. I can still see fine."

 

"I'll send you out first once we get to the top."

"What mimics?" Ihra asks, worried.

She makes a second link, reaching out to Tenebrae.

 

"...How?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"Some kind of parasite that infects a host and kills them, and disguises like them, making it near impossible to tell they're not the same person. They then infect other hosts posing as the original person, which means they can get to families and even worse, positions of power," Artemis explains, "I...honestly had no idea these creatures existed. The only mimics I knew of where hexed objects."

The link opens, though Ihra doesn't hear anything.

 

"Understood." He nods.

 

Ihra cuts the link, doing whatever she can to strengthen her link with Tenebrae.
"Lady Tenebrae, can you hear me? Are you okay?"

 

"It's like a very small camera lens in the middle of my socket, a bit of a ways away from the start of the holes. That's really the best way to describe it."

 

"Yes, I am fine. I fear my children are not." Tenebrae says.

"Oh, that seems inefficient." Shadow Stephanie comments.

 

After another minute, he pushes out a slightly smaller hole.
"Alright, do what you need to do. I'm going to work on thawing your friend a bit more."

 

I shrug.
"They were going to make more of me anyways. I wasn't planned to be a final copy, with or without eyes."

 

"Kind of creepy don't you think?" Shadow Stephanie asks.
