Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Just land if you need a break again. I’ll be watching.”
I say, before taking off flying.

 

Shadow Stephanie follows you, this time growing two sets of wings to speed herself up instead of increasing her size.

 

I keep going and keeping an eye on her, stalling my fire if she needs to catch up.

 

Shadow Stephanie seems to be able to keep up a lot better this time, though she's still not as fast as you.

 

I just keep going what I’m doing, occasionally looking ahead and making sure I’m going in the right direction.

 

Shadow Stephanie falls behind a bit as she glides to save energy, though she keeps you in sight, occasionally flying again to catch up.

 

It has a soft, lingering taste with a touch of peppermint.
"Good enough to calm down for a bit?"
Ruby seems to just let her tongue hang in the cup.

On take two...
...you miss again, this time you're not even close.

Fortunately (?) you hear a bit of talking on the other side of the wall; seems you've made your presence known.

He lets out a sigh of relief, taking a different hallway at random.


They nod.
"...How big does the canvas need to be?"
"I don't think we have one the size of a house..."
"I know I don't have near enough paint for that."

 

"Your knowledge of me is frightening sometimes." I say, sipping the tea more.

 

The aftertaste compliments the flavor, slowly growing more potent as you empty the cup.
"So it's not creepy when Emerald does it, but when I do it you get pissed?"
Pause.
"...Whatever. We don't need this stress." She says, downing the rest of the pitcher.

 

"Emerald's a lot weaker than you." I say.

 

"Have you seen the library? She wiped out an entire horde of those nobody things on her own. There's still null zones there. Maybe you also forgot she has access to an entire archive full of relics, artifacts, and weapons? There's no way I could beat her."

 

"She's reliant on her books though. Burn her external sources of power, and she's weaker." I say.

 

"True, but have you ever actually managed to burn one of her books when she's using it?"

 

"No, but I'm not the ace detective here." I say.

 

"Nobody really wants me back there. Fine by me, I find Earth a lot more pleasant." She shrugs, picking up the other pitcher. "More tea?"

 

"Back where?" I ask, nodding.

 

She refills your cup.
"Back at the palace. I wasn't quiet about how I felt on a case." She says, putting the pitcher down and splitting her body in half, sending one half upstairs as the other forms a smaller version of herself.

 

"I've managed to clear your name their and covered for everything you did, you know," I say, "I'm impressed you've managed to learn how to control two selves, too."

 

I give more of my time to keep and eye on her now.

 

Shadow Stephanie seems to be mostly fine, only conserving energy through gliding instead of stopping to rest.
