Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, duh. I don't get why that's a problem."
"Are you two done making Ruby look crazy?"
Ruby sighs.
"...Also, another thing to motivate you to leave Miorah alone is that Alice did a case for her."

 

I flip on my back, then face her, and signal to go down, then land.

 

He was about to head off, but--
"You know, I think I'll just stay here."

 

"Because I like your reality, it's unique. The gods are totally different, the inhabitants of it are strange and interesting, and there's a lot more realms." I say.

"So, what case did she do?" I ask, deciding to appear next to Ruby, Ruby losing her power boost.

Shadow Stephanie dives down, catching herself before she crushes on the ground, landing softly.

 

“You okay?”
I say up to her from the ground.

 

"I can assure you, this was never my teachings. For ages all citizens of the surface are taught of the heretical past of the underground, and everyone believed them for a very long time."

 

"Mostly." Shadow Stephanie says, albeit looking exhausted.

 

Alice shows up with a teaset in hand.
"I was asked to determine whether she was in the wrong or not for being herself around Shadow Stephanie. I compared her typical behavior when stressed and unstressed when you or someone else gets on her nerves with how she behaved with Miorah. The cross-check showed that an apology should yield a peaceful outcome and minimized resentment."
"...Do you, uh, know that much about everyone?"
"Only everyone I have a file on, though I haven't bothered looking into Eve much. Sweet Tenebrae, does she hate her past..."

"Funny, we consider the surface-goers heretical. Perhaps a second look would do our kingdoms mutual good."

 

“You look exhausted. Care to sit?”
I offer, sitting down myself.

 

"I don't think she hates it, just...I don't know. It's a big part of her," I say, "I'll be surprised if you can find out much about her."

"Yeah, thanks." Shadow Stephanie says, sitting in your shadow and changing to her normal size.

 

"It's bad to push yourself like that while flying."
I comment.
"If you need a break, just tell me."

 

"I don't really care, she's prone to an emotionless state if she decides there's someone that needs killing. Of course, I'm not gonna mess with her because you made a machine that you can't stop without the code."

 

"Yeah, it's just the light," Shadow Stephanie says, sounding down, "Aj gets blessed to be immune to sunlight, while I'm stuck shrivelling up in it like some lardass on the beach."

I narrow my eyes at Alice, seeming annoyed.

"You'd be surprised what you can learn about her." I say clearly.

 

"You've seemed fine in the sunlight before."

 

"I don't doubt that. However, there's only so much you can learn from one person or robot. There's a whole world out here..."
Pause.
"...And for the record, you really shouldn't worry about me being pissed at you, even though I am." Alice sighs, pouring you a cup of tea. "Let's just drink the thoughts away, yeah? Save the hard feelings for the battlefield." She says, pouring Ruby a cup of tea before downing a separate pitcher.

 

"I haven't been, it's just not as noticable. The larger my form and the stronger the sunlight, the less time I can hold it." Shadow Stephanie says.

I accept the tea, sipping it lightly.

 

As Ren returns into the hall, the sounds of the docks slowly die down. It's not long before Ren is back in the ominous silence of the halls.

"No need to apologize, and I extend my gratitude in advance for your kind assistance." Terrae says, waving his hand ever so slightly. An image of Xlentia in her armor passes through the minds of the artists and embeds itself into their memory.

"This is the goddess whom I wish to have a portrait made of. I shall not reveal much to you for the purposes of security, other than that she is from a world unlike ours."

 

“Right.”
I stand up in order for her to get more shade.
“Take as long as you’d like.”

 

Once I regain my focus I try again.

 

Shadow Stephanie rests for a while, before getting up and nodding.
