Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

She's now in B3C3, and the two courses of action are to head back to Idhaenna or check on the elites.


"Glad that my work can be appreciated in another place."


"Heh, that's kinda funny. They say a lot of the same as that about humans." Ihra giggles.

 

Shadow Stephanie glances behind her to check if she's being followed.


"I hope it can be appreciated in your home world too." The guard says.


"At least we've worked on innovating technology to make the lives of everyone better. I bet you wouldn't see a guardian with this sort of tech." The human says, waving around their metal rectangle.

 

She's being left alone, even by her allies.


"If it was, I'd have a few paintings hung up around my home."


"I mean, yeah, it's a nice camera, but I'd rather keep my own tech." Ihra says, holding out her robe sleeve. "We've made metal that's softer and stronger than fabric ever will be. Of course, we focus on magic because it's more plentiful where I'm from, but we've got some fancy technology, too."

 

Shadow Stephanie just heads back to the elites.


"It'd certainly increase the value of your home if nothing else." The guard chuckles.


"You got VR headsets?" The human asks.

 

The blast door they were behind was breached, but no other defenses were destroyed.


"Heh, you should see my home someday. It's... probably not what you think."


"Why have virtual reality when magic lets you do this?" Ihra asks, waving her staff around a bit and making a cat appear next to her, which leaps onto her shoulder.

 

"There are some folks out there in the forest who need a shelter."

 

"Look, I know you want to help people, but there's just too many of them and not enough cave. I don't even know if we could protect them from other dragons if our neighbors saw that we had plenty of flesh in our domain."

Shadow Stephanie looks for the elites themselves.


"Perhaps I shall, if the king or queen ever sends guards there." The guard says.


"Pfft, that's just smoke and mirrors." The human says.

 

They're still there, ready to defend against anything else.


"There wouldn't be anywhere for you to stay for the night, but... yeah, it's not great."


"Okay. Here." Ihra says, holding the cat out towards the human. "Pet it."

Shadow Stephanie stays with the elites, though keeping back.


"Doesn't mean a visit can't be made." The guard says.


"You're not going to trick me." The human says, petting the cat.

 

“Some fuckin’ vitamin pills. You shoulda seen her.”

 

"I get that. So they still have a risk if your neighbors see them?"

 

A few of the defenders glance around before heading out towards the front lines, or what remains of them.


The Matriarch smiles before waving and looking for an elevator.


The cat purrs and feels like an actual cat.
"Why would I? It's not cool if you don't believe it. Besides... smoke and mirrors this!" Ihra says, reverting and appearing as a normal dragoness after a flash of light.
"...And yes, you can have another selfie thing if you want."

"Of course. It's hunt or be hunted, kill or be killed up here. If any other dragon finds out I have children, they'll be dead if I take my eye off them."

"Dude, we all have 'em." He says, taking one out of his pocket and popping it. "Watch me come back to you kickin' in the morning."

 

Shadow Stephanie stays on guard with the elites, ready if any enemies come.

A worn out looking Ignia, armour looking damaged tiredly walks over to the group, slumping down near to Shadow Stephanie.


There seems to be an elevator nearby, the one The Matriarch entered from.


"J-Jesus christ!" The human says, before running away in fear.

 

"I think that's about it for this one. Thanks for the cleanup." The still-reforming mech says.


She heads inside and looks for the combination for the palace entry, leaving afterwards.


Ihra reverts again, petting her summoned cat as she strolls off.

 

"There's....going to be...more?" Ignia asks through heavy breaths.


Ihra soon gets out of the village and onto a road leading through a countryside, a few cars driving by.

 

"Nah, think your queen got 'em. If my counts are right, we can handle the rest."


Ihra looks for a footpath to walk along, enjoying the sights.

 

"I just hope they don't come back..." Shadow Stephanie says.


Ihra finds a path into the countryside fields, a few dogs sniffing about barking when they see her and running back to their owners.

 

"Oh, they will be."


Ihra keeps walking.
