Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Everybody."
I say loudly, trying to get attention.

 

It's difficult to, but her first estimate says three things.


"...Is my artwork able to compare with any of the others in the gallery? I haven't looked at the rest."

"Yeah, I haven't seen any of them since we fled."

"Which is the problem. There is limited cave and eight scratchy children."

Murmuring dies down, and everyone turns.

 

Shadow Stephanie tries to gauge two more times, wanting to be accurate.


"Well, it's in the gallery for a start." The guard says.

 

Five, four...
This is getting her nowhere. The first round didn't detonate, may as well just set it so it won't blow up.


"Yes, but that was the only open space when I started bringing my paintings in."

 

"I'll try to keep an eye out."

"And dragons that might eat some of the smaller creatures."

 

Shadow Stephanie sets the count to be just higher that her estimate, aiming it in the middle of the portal and trying to shoot it into the portal.


"And yet they weren't removed or changed." The guard says.

 

"Alright. I would like to establish a few things when it comes to the progression of this investigation. For one, we are certain that the unnamed woman, the one who has disappeared, has played a large role if not the only role, in this incident. It is known that she is the one who knocked out the guards, but unclear if she killed the king or not. Secondly, a Mantis guard has gone missing. As a weapon in this incident is believed to be a Mantis armblade, this could be cause for concern."

 

"Thanks... w-what's your name, by the way?"

"We get it. It's really not a good place."

"You mean the one that got murdered?"
"A mantis guard?"
"The Matriarch was behind this? She never does anything but paint!"

One shot, one portal closed as a group of ten mechs turn and go after Shadow Stephanie.


"I guess... I would hope you wouldn't just throw them out, each piece takes me a week or so, plus all the redoing from falling asleep in the middle of my work... It's a lot of hassle."

 

"No, the Matriarch was not behind this."
You can practically see me roll my eyes.
"And what's this about one that got murdered?"

 

"You as well."

I shut the door and look around

 

Shadow Stephanie turns and runs, checking her map to see where the most allies are.


"We would never do that. Art that's no longer desired is either carefully stored or auctioned, never thrown away." The guard says.

 

"Bardock. What's yours?"

 

"Exactly. But sometimes some crates don't break. It's a bit odd but I've noticed that the crate survivors all contain ore."

 

What level of technology are we at that there are moterized boats but people are still attacking eachother with swords.

 

"That woman with the lab coat, when all the raptors started shrieking about murder."

Pre-flight technology levels, but nobody uses gunpowder. If you can't use firearms, that leaves you killing other people with swords.

Most of the people are in B2, four elites in chamber three.


"Oh... that's comforting. Well, uh... thanks. I'll bring this to the gallery."

"Is there some
Sorta special ore?"

"Cole. N-nice to meet you."

The room is lit softy by a chandelier, and there's a door that seems to lead to a bathroom across the room. The bedframe is ornate and the blankets have some sort of crest sewn in as a design. The bedside table is empty, but the dresser hasn't been emptied, an old picture of a harpy family standing next to a photo album.

 

"Bira, Tuer, Mona and Cole. Alright, I'll see what I can do."
He heads back to the cave.

 

"W-wait! T-that cave is... y-you know who l-lives there, right-t?" Cole shouts after you, still shivering.

 

"I do."
He continues walking.

 

Shadow Stephanie heads to chamber three, checking behind her.


The guards hold the gates open as The Matriarch heads through, making sure they don't fall shut. Once The Matriarch reaches the doors to the palace, the guards at them open them for her.

 

"Then why are you going that way?!"

The mechs are still following her.
...She'd have to load another shot to use the sniper. Letting the mech get scrapped would cause... issues.


She nods to each guard as she goes, heading for the gallery/elevator and tries to find the combo for the gallery without getting paint on the book.
