Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Shadow Stephanie dodges them, heading to a safer area to think about destroying the portal.


Aqui heads to the second branch, following her map.

 

There's still one of her own in a mech that, unlike the others, isn't doing anything.


The map doesn't detail the vents, and they twist and turn with seemingly no rhyme or reason.

 

Shadow Stephanie looks at the other mechs, to see what abilities they possess.


Aqui tries to keep a sense of direction about her, aiming to head to branch 2.

 

I look at it for a bit, interested.

 

It's of a wolf leaping through the air, jumping at an unsuspecting rabbit.

They all seem to have a railgun (or light blaster) and a needler or minigun.
The one that the shadow's waiting around in has a sniper of sorts.


She... winds up back where she started.
"Do you need help?" One of the pilots ask.

 

I shake the Matriarch a bit, attempting to wake her.

 

Let's try that fire again.

 

Shadow Stephanie ponders on the abilities of a sniper rifle against a portal.


Aqui nods, looking a little embarrassed.

 

You get it smoldering, but the logs don't catch.

She doesn't even know what kind of sniper rifle it is.


"You scared of a little soul searching?"

She jumps, startled and splattering a bit of paint from her brush onto the canvas.
"Ohhh..."

 

“Oh. Uh, sorry.”
I say, cautiously backing up a bit.

 

She sighs, distraught.
"What do you want?!"

 

Shadow Stephanie thinks for a bit, before taking over the mech, the Shadow seeming to object at first, before standing down when they realize it's Shadow Stephanie.

Shadow Stephanie carefully lines up a shot at the portal with the sniper.


"H-Huh?" Aqui asks, nervous.

 

The scope shows a red outline around the portal.

"One shot left. Spend shot on target?" The mech warns.


"You ever been a spirit before?"

 

“There’s been some trouble in the respite. I just wanted to ask some questions.”

 

"What? Did you find my missing guard?" She asks, aggravated.

 

Shadow Stephanie makes sure the shot is clean, before firing.


"No, but I've been to the depths of the ocean." Aqui says.

 

“You have a missing guard...”
I say, pondering.

 

Trigger is locked.
"Confirm fire?"


"Well, jump in!" The mech pilot says, leaping at a wall and seeming to phase through out of sight.

"Yeah, and now I have to do this all over again!" She shouts, getting angrier.

 

"Yes." Shadow Stephanie says, rolling her eyes.


Aqui seems hesitant.

 

The shot fires, ripping the mech's arm off as the portal explodes in a flash of light and fire.


Another mech shoves Aqui at the wall, and she finds herself swimming in a ghostly realm.
"Oh, it's not that bad. Come on, we gotta get moving!"
