Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

She starts to notice the friendly mechs starting to fall back, getting attacked on three sides.
A few draconians target her specifically, blades of light in hand.

This causes a few mechs to push forward, but the group as a whole seems to be starting to retreat.


A railgun shot pierces straight through the middle of the shield, though things are much quieter outside of the shield.


The shield holds off a few stray needles before Ihra comes and breaks the ice, putting a barrier up and starting to heal Aqui's wounds, particularly trying to restore some of her hearing.

"Yeah... hey, did you ever fingerprint that one crazy lady?"

 

Shadow Stephanie confronts them, dodging around one and breaking their arm, disarming them and using their own blade to behead them, before throwing it at another.


Once the Shadows get far enough back, they start rapidly possessing any enemies they find, turning their bodies into spikes that erupt out of the enemy on all sides, before jumping to another host and doing the same.


Victus lies flat for a moment, before looking through the hole caused by the shot.


Aqui tries to calm herself down, getting her double trident ready.

 

“No, but nobody else matches, so the fingerprints on the darts much be hers. Where do you keep the armblades?”

 

"I'll try to get home before it gets dark."
He waves Anne goodbye and heads out.

 

She gets grazed by one of them, but she dispatches two.


There's not many hosts to do that to, but the ones that are vulnerable are quickly wiped.


A piece of mech crashes into the shield.


Ihra puts a claw on her shoulder.
"Hanging in there?"

"Armblades? Those knives are in the marketplace."

It's still about noon, so you've got plenty of time.

 

Shadow Stephanie possesses one of the draconians, before tearing it in half from within, using the two halves to wap any other draconians.


The Shadows continue spiking through the ranks, not stopping.


The shield cracks, before breaking. Victus immediately regrows the front of the shield, hiding behind it as he checks to see if the fire is still raging.


Aqui nods, trying her best to seem brave.

 

He heads out towards where he last was.

 

There aren't any others left at the moment.


The only ranks left to spike are friendly ranks, a few shadows getting picked off by light shots in the process.


Yes, the fire's still raging across the entire room.


Ihra smiles.
"Don't overwork yourself."

Back on the mountain ridge, it's a lot colder than it was without Anne on your shoulder.

 

"Okay, let's stay around to long."
He goes exploring into the woods.

 

"Let me out, night vision' help in case we get lost."

 

Shadow Stephanie looks for any other enemies about.


The Shadows change their hosts to the friendly ranks, deciding to empower them to help with their battles, as well as provide safety from friendly fire.


Victus thinks for a bit, before just deciding to shield himself again, growing spikes on the outside to prevent anyone from getting to him.


Aqui freezes a helmet around her head, designed to block out more noise while being more durable.

 

More mechs, and more shards fired at her.


Empowering the mech pilots doesn't do much, but they're able to fire a bit at the enemy support lines with the enhanced sight.


Another railgun blast lets some of the flames in.


"You good? The others are in a bit of a pinch, I don't want to stay too long."

 

"Oh right. Still need to transform."
He starts transforming.
"Enjoy your free time."

 

Shadow Stephanie grabs one of the shards, spinning around with it and throwing it back.


The Shadows show any enemies attempting to hide invisible to the mech pilots, and add to their focus too.


Victus tries to patch it up as fast as he can, getting burnt in the process.


Aqui nods.

 

“Does anybody know who might’ve gotten their hands on some recently?”

 

"Enjoy the warmth."
The winds become far less cold, and you feel a bit energetic.

"Nobody, as of late."

It cuts her hand the first time, but the second time she manages to fling it back, only for it to bounce off a shield.
Eve would fare better here...


Upon realizing they're surrounded, the mech pilots start fighting recklessly, firing at just about everything instead of firing in controlled bursts.


He blocks one side, but a mech smashes the other half of the shield before he patches the hole.


Ihra waves, leaving Aqui feeling rejuvenated before blinking off.

 

“And, does anybody current own one?”

 

Shadow Stephanie decides to go invisible, hiding her red eyes too to try and evade attacks.


The Shadows subtly influence the mech pilots to carefully aim at the enemies, aiming for headshots.


Victus wraps snaking vines around the mech as he retreats, trying to stay close to the ground to avoid the fire. The vines tighten, trying to crush the mech's parts.


Aqui assesses the situation in front of her.

 

"Let's go for a run."
He starts sprinting through the forest.

 

"No, we don't."

Once she cloaks, she's deemed a non-threat by the barrages, though a few mechs still fire needles her way.


Most of the enemy mechs seem autonomous, though the few that aren't have completely enclosed compartments for their pilots. The closest thing to a weakness they have is being rendered fodder by hitting their weapons.


Victus can't crush it, and the armweapon on the mech shifts to a flamethrower before another mech leaps down and smashes the weapon, trying to get itself between the enemy mech and Victus.


The offense seems to have stalled, but allied forces aren't pushing back out.

The forest is fairly crowded, hundreds of birds and squirrels crammed on comparatively few trees.

It's kind of a sad sight to see... it's like we're all stuck in a corner.
