Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Once again, I see if I can recognize them.

 

It backs up at first, then chirps.
The others try and crowd around your hand, a few accidentally scratching you a bit.

"My kingdom? Well, technically it started way back before surface dwellers even lived. I've only been alive the past couple centries."

Ali starts preheating the oven and grabs the cookie sheet, putting doughballs on the sheet before sticking the stem of some kind of mint in each cookie, then putting them in.

You don't recognize any of the duos, but Fuela seems to have been one of the passersby.

 

I don’t bother interacting with them.

 

You find the crowd (minus three tazed people) waiting for you upon return.
"Weren't you rounding them up?"

 

I shrug.
“I had some help.”

 

"None of them are bound..."
"How'd you get them to listen?"

 

The oven hums as it bakes the cookies, Ali able to watch them in the oven.

 

After two minutes, she opens the oven and takes the leaves out before they burn, putting the tray back in and setting a timer for ten minutes before crushing the leaves into a powder... then going back in the storeroom for some cocoa.

 

“I stopped assuming. They had equipment for forensics scattered around, they just wanted to get it.”

 

The cocoa beans seem ripe and fresh, easily picked, though Ali feels slightly watched.

 

"...What?"
"They already knew about your forensics thing?"

Ali just takes a few cocoa beans, heads back to her kitchen, waving and leaving the door ajar.
She grinds and mixes the cocoa powder with the leaf dust, adding a little bit of water to roll the mixture into little balls.

 

Nothing comes from the farm room, the sound of flapping unheard.

 

“They’re right there.”
I say, pointing to them and stepping out of the way.
“So any questions you have about them can be answered by them.”

 

He pets them one by one, going left to right.

 

The woman just loads the taser, everyone keeping quiet.

She waits until the cookies are two minutes from done, then takes them out again and presses one of the chocolate balls into each cookie before putting them back in and waiting again.

They eventually all pile up on the left, all wanting to be pet more.

 

There's a slight bit of commotion from the farm room, ending with a splash of water.

 

Once the cookies are done, she puts them on a plate and looks for a piece of paper, upon finding one tearing a bit off and writing "Sorry to startle you" on it before putting it on the plate and putting the plate in the storeroom, closing the door behind her and then cleaning up.

 

I'll clear off the dirt and sit in the chair.

 

The wood creaks and groans as you put your weight on it, but it seems to hold.
...It's not the most comfortable, but it works. Better than running around, at least.
