Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The chef leads Ali through a doorway into a seperate part of the kitchen, utensils and machines related to cooking all set out for Ali, as well as a phone and another closed door at the back of the kitchen.

"Your private kitchen, madame. I hope it is...magnifique." The chef says.

 

I follow Erevne down the tunnel.

"So, how does a harpy live away from the winds?"

 

"The same way a harpy lives with the winds." She says. "Unless things have changed up there, the biggest difference is that instead of multiple rulers, there's just me."
"She used to be a Galer, too. She apprenticed Muux." Reiglynn adds.

"A... private kitchen? Oh geez... uhm... where are all the ingredients kept?"

You use branches as a frame, grass as a bit of an extra cover, and moss to fill in the gaps.
That'll keep out onlookers and the cold.
...Now what? Settle in the cabin, or look around the island for anything else?

By the time the group gets to the Matriarch's hut, the woman is in view, approaching.

"Okay... dungeon. Under a fallen tree near the Matriarch's hut, and the kit's behind the first cell on the left."

 

"Fallen tree..."
I mutter to myself, looking around for what he described, while Voidfiller watches the woman approach.

 

"You like that?"
He continues petting.

 

It keeps growling, rubbing its head against your hand... which scratches you a bit.

There are four fallen trees, but only two are big enough to have any sort of entry to anything below.

 

I just lift up and throw away one after the other, stopping if there's an entrance.

 

"Ouch, thorns."
He pets it under it's chin.

 

Seems houses are built using each of them; best to leave them alone.

You notice an opening on the second one, but it'd be a tight fit for you.

It chirps, neck vibrating rhythmically... but its chin is still rough and a bit painful to pet.

 

"How does their mother do this? She must be used to it somehow."

 

"We have a few basiques for you madame, but specifique ingredients are just a phonecall away!" The chef says happily.

 

Since you brought it up, might as well make a sweep of the entire island and then settle in.

 

"Voidfiller."
"What?"
Voidfiller walks over to me.
"Go in there,"
I point to the opening.
"See what's up."
"A'ight."
Voidfiller forms into a much small shape, going through the opening.

 

She's also a dragon and has a much tougher hide.

The dragonling hisses as one of its siblings tries to use its tail to get on your lap.

It leads to a staircase, pretty much completely dark at the bottom with withered roots forming cages of sorts.

Going around the rest of the island, there's unfortunately not much else to speak of. There's a shovel, lantern, and a small woodpile.

She nods, still a bit overwhelmed.
"Thanks. I need a bit to get used to it, but I'm sure I'll pull my weight soon."

 

Voidfiller checks if they could be used as cells.

 

Nightvision shows a mantis inside a few of the cages, so yes.

 

“Which cell was it again?”
He calls outwards.
“First on the left.”
Voidfiller checks that one.

 

It's empty, but open.

 

"Calm down. Everyone will get their attention, sooner or later."

 

The lapdragon curls its tail under its belly and turns to hiss at their sibling, the others in a pile trying to join the one on your lap, various sounds of scratching, chirping, and quiet yelps coming from the pile.
