Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

It's on the opposite side of the forest.
"You gonna haul him all the way back?"

 

“It shouldn’t be as far as getting to the ramp. Thirteen isn’t that slow.”
Voidfiller slumps the unconscious man over him.

 

I do another sweep of the house before calling home.

 

"Okay...? Are they meeting us in the middle?"

No signs of anyone, mattress intact and working water pump. Cover the windows a bit and you'll have a good start.

 

“Yeah. They should be.”

 

He shrugs, following Voidfiller.

 

"I am ready whenever the elder is ready to go, of course."

 

Voidfiller just keeps walking along.

Meanwhile, I continue to lead the man from the ramp to the respite.

 

Reiglynn nods, lowering herself to the ground.
"Come on, it'll be faster if you're not stumbling over everything."
Erevne starts heading down into a tunnel.

You wind up meeting near a group of mantis houses.

 

“What’s with the unconscious guy?”
I immediately ask.
“Dunno. He got beat up or something.”

 

"What do you think the others were gonna do when they caught up to us?"

 

“Try and take you back, at least.”
“So where are the other kits?”

 

"There's still one in the mantis dungeon, and if you got the blacklight, queen ego's probably got the chemicals by now."

 

“Is that who I met? Then, yeah, she’s got the chemicals.”
“Then our next destination’s the mantis dungeon.”

 

He smiles and waves at them.
"Hello."

 

"I was the backup for mister unconscious, so... think I remember where it still is."

A few wave back, some just looking at you with energetic eyes, and three open their mouths and let out a harmonic chirp in response.

 

“You’re the leader, then.”

 

"Possibly, but that'd be them wouldn't it?" The smith says.

 

"Oh, they are surprisingly calm. Don't you think?"

 

They're children, half of them look like they're going to explode.

"...Do you two not know where the dungeon is?"

"Sort of. It's kind of like saying you didn't go to the bottom of the ocean just because you went in a submarine."
