“You doin’ okay?”

 

"What's it mean to you?"

Ali smiles as she returns the book.



"One sec..."
The golem splits into a hound, a beetle, a small(er) wyvern, and a smaller golem. The compartment is out in the open, the draconian sitting in the middle with twenty strings coming out of their claws.

 

“Just making sure you’re not being eaten from the inside-out. Are you hungry?”

 

"Why do you suddenly care?"

 

“I’m just wondering.”

 

"How many do you have? Six or something?"

 

"Well, if you actually care, yes."

"Eight with a set of twins and triplets. Five children out of five eggs would've been manageable... eight is just exhausting."

 

"Ehe... I can kind of relate to it."
He chuckles.

 

"How so? You already fed up with your sweetheart?"

 

“You can bring fruits and stuff into the Ruin, right?”
Voidfiller grows an extra hand that goes through a portal.

 

Onyx waits and watches, her motives unclear.


The sculptors nod to each other, before beginning to work.

 

"Not unless you want rotten fruit."

 

"I have a pack of wolves. It isn't really the same, since most of them are already adults and they can take care of themselves. But it's still hard to manage."

 

Ali takes a step towards Onyx.


Milla holds position with the puppets.

"Fair enough. It's hard enough to care for yourself, sometimes... nonetheless eight other mouths."

 

Onyx just watches, unmoving.


It takes a while, but the sculptors create a tombstone made from every puppet, the golem being made both as it's parts and it's combined form.

 

Ali keeps getting closer, looking at Onyx.


Milla reforms the golem before putting it in a kneeling pose.
"Alright, that good?"

 

“Well, I don’t.”
There’s a long pause as the hand wriggles around in the portal.
“Got it!”
The hand pulls out a plastic bag, closed by a twist tie, and hands it to the man. Inside are what seems to be six bread rolls.

 

"Plus a deaf husband, but yes."
He sits down on the cold floor.

 

"Okay... can we head to the respite, then?" He asks, taking the bread.

“No clue, yet. And don’t cast away that bag.”
