Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

They cough, soon getting tackled by their pursuer.

Look around the broken safehouse or the forest?

"There is but one price to pay for the visit... those who embrace the winds are forbidden from seeing the way to the underground."

He giggles, shakes his head, and pushes you again.
He's not usually like this...

Ali heads back to the elevator, looks for an inputs the combination to the throne room, then heads out of the palace and towards town.

 

"If this is the price I must pay, it shall be so. Take me to the underground."

 

Reiglynn takes a torn piece of cloth and wraps it around your face. If the low light didn't make it hard enough to see through, the fact that it seems to be covered with dried blood makes it impossible.

You feel yourself picked up and carried downwards, at one point feeling like you were in freefall for a second or two.

 

The safehouse. Why is it called a safehouse anyways?

 

If you had a better reputation, you could ask someone. But, you don't, so you may as well keep speculating.

You find a compass and an old journal along with a pen in one of the corpses' pockets.

 

"How far down is the underground? It feels like we've been going for far too long."

 

Voidfiller sticks the other cupped end of the rope to the tree, then takes off flying, looking for the others.

 

"It's barely been a minute, do you mind having a little patience?"

Two are running towards the ramp down to the lowlands, the third running around the other side of the mantis 'palace,' about a dozen raptors chasing him.

 

Voidfiller pursues the ones going down to the lowlands, trying to make an earth wall blocking the path.

 

"I just had the sneaking suspicion that those two freefalls would have us down there by now."

 

There's only one path down, walling it off proving fairly easy.
They realize he made a wall, both of them aiming to take a slight jump to go around it.

"One. One freefall. We're almost there now, so if you could silence yourself for a few seconds, that'd be wonderful."

 

He extends the wall outwards more, then tries to encase their feet, rooting them.

 

One manages to get free before being cut off by the wall again, the other tackled before he gets anywhere.

 

Voidfiller just continues to try and encase the one that got free, sometimes using the wall's earth to try and grab him.

 

I pocket the compass and open the journal.

 

The moment he stops moving, it's easy to encase him.

It's mostly empty, just the first three pages written in. Even then, the ink was smeared everywhere.

The first page reads:
"Day 5: Finally picked up a notebook. Our kids will ask us about this trip, no doubt. I-
...
-irds with purple plumage, which ... -ation Society. ... extinct, but thi- ... perfectly.
We'll call it a day at the next safehouse. It'll be nice to get out of the wind."

 

Voidfiller does so, casing him up to his knees before stopping.

 

He struggles to turn, looking at Voidfiller angrily.
"Are you trying to get me killed?!"

 

"Not really."
He responds calmly, landing.
"I just didn't like you two moving so much."

 

"Why the hell wouldn't we run? Everyone's gonna blame an ex-con!"
