"Probably, but I'll recover." Emerald shrugs. "A day or two and I'll be ready to do it all over again if I have to. I appreciate the concern, though."

 

"You can come here to rest if you need to. Many people find our realm relaxing and rejuvenating, and we can keep you safe from anyone attacking you." Lielia offers.

 

"Again, I appreciate the offer, but if I were to leave my library, just about everything in my mistress' palace would stop working."
Pause.
"I actually came to inquire about what I believe is a spineless rumor."

 

"A spineless rumor?" Solus asks.

 

"Someone was wondering if your people had been distributing dangerous pulse rifles. I figure it's something I wouldn't get a straight answer over, but you won't know if you don't look into it."

 

"Not at all, we stopped producing the old versions of our rifles long ago. Our current rifles are much safer, and we don't distribute them to anyone but our armies." Solus says.

 

"If you wouldn't mind the trouble, would you be willing to verify that the rifles haven't been handed out to outside forces? I wholeheartedly believe you, but I cannot shut down a rumor with a mere claim."

 

"We'll look into where the rifles are produced and who they've been given to, certainly." Lielia says.

 

Emerald bows again.
"Thank you, I really appreciate that."
Pause.
"...I suppose, one other thing while I'm here. Would you mind me being frank with you two for a moment?"

 

"Go on." Solus says.

 

"Throughout this war, the Shadow Royalty have been my steadfast ally, but there's one concern that I've heard echo throughout both successes and setbacks... and that is they fear you will strike at them again. Deep down, I have to admit I'm slightly discomforted by the same thing. I appreciate you using your people's strength and technological prowess to keep the peace, finding it honorable even... but it'd only take one ill-intentioned being with a facade of good intentions to utterly ravage the shadows, my people, or both."

 

"We certainly do not wish to get into another war with the Shadows, not after the losses on either side from our previous war and the reactions of our gods to that war." Lielia says.

 

Emerald nods.
"Thank you for your time, and thank you for offering shelter to my sister... though I also would like to tell the queen one more thing, as a request that my late sister confided to me. Of course, if you have other matters to tend to, the message itself is nothing urgent."

 

"What do you wish to tell me?" Lielia asks.

 

Emerald glances at her shoulder again as it flickers.
"...Sorry about that. She wanted to say thank you as well as share her art with your people, but since that's not happening, she wanted me to give you her smaller puppets and any scripts for puppet shows she had written."
Pause.
"...Then she got sentimental and went on a rant how nobody liked puppets that much anymore, but needless to say, that's beside the point."

 

"I'm sure the children will enjoy the puppet shows." Lielia says, smiling.

 

"I will have her belongings gathered and ready to send over... once I get rid of the disintegration zones in my library." Emerald says, looking a bit embarrassed.

 

I check the gut wound, seeing if there's any difference.

 

"We'll have a guard on duty to receive them." Solus says.

 

There isn't; same weapon.

"Thank you very much. Again, I appreciate your time." Emerald says, smiling and waving.
"...Though, uh... could you do me one more favor and destroy this projection?"
