Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I'll leave that up to you and my counterpart. I don't mind either way."

 

I try finding a place to lay the painting down on its back without getting paint on it.

 

Tenebrae begins to focus, putting her hands together before her focus strengthens. Tenebrae seems to struggle to bring her hands apart as a large portal to the void palace shakily opens up between herself and Gaia.

 

It's a long walk, but it looks out from a cliff. You can see the entire extent of the forest fire from here, and it seems that there's hardly any trees that were spared from the blaze.

There really isn't one. The canvas stand is pretty much the only safe place in this messy room.

Gaia makes haste as she goes through.
"You have my thanks. I hope to be able to come visit again under a less dire circumstance." She says, glancing back through the portal.

 

I leave it on the stand, then, and wait for the Matriarch to wake up.

 

The paintbrush slowly slips from her hand, startling her as it splashes a bit of paint onto her face.
"H-huhhm...?" She mumbles, rubbing her eyes.

 

"Morning. Or, whatever time it is."
I pick up the paintbrush.

 

She turns to you, weary.
"Oh, hello again... have you seen my palette?"

 

"I haven't seen it..."
I look around a bit.

 

There's three different palettes on the floor, all of them about the same distance from the Matriarch's chair.

 

"Are any of these the one?"
I point to the three.

 

She turns.
"Uhh... ah, I'll have to start over again. Any of those will do, thanks."

 

"Why's that?"
I grab the nearest one to me, handing it to her.

 

She looks the palette over.
"I'll need to mix all the colors again. This looks like the same palette I had been using, so it'll be easier, but..."
She sighs.
"...Maybe I should ask those shadow things for something that'd keep me from dropping everything when I fall asleep."

 

"Like, a desk?"
I say, almost jokingly.

 

"Well, so far for taking a look at the night sky."
*sigh*

 

"Thank you Solis. I'll return shortly, I presume."

I set out towards Reiglynn's valley

 

"A what?"

Your beast form makes you look up, at the half moon covered with a thin, smoky haze.

She'll get what's coming.

It only takes a few steps to see a cave on the left with bones at the mouth. Some human, some elven. Seems Reiglynn has a temper.

 

"Imagine a table that's more designed for one person to work at."

 

"You're talking about the Ziz right?"
