Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"The enemy is keeping close watch on you and another god. You have enough forces to protect one, but if either is captured, the enemy can now sweep the remains of your forces. What do you do?"

 

"They're pretty powerful." Katie says, her mood brightening a bit after thinking about her parents.


"Is something wrong?" I ask, concerned.

 

Spring smiles.
"I'm sure they'll get revenge for you, especially if they know draconians. The Crystal Fleet is something else..."


She looks up at you and shakes her head.
"N-not with me, no..."

 

"I'd say this is when you slide into the diplomatic route. Stall for as long as possible. Do not be afraid to make minor concessions. Use the time you have to gain more allies and rally your own troops. Rendevouz with the god, and they can add to your total strength. If the enemy can beat you after you seperate your eggs, you might as well store all your eggs in one basket." Terrae says as he examines the map.

 

"That's not an option... but believe me, if nothing else, I've gotten good at stalling."
Pause.
"...I should get back to my own affairs. Hope you can pardon me lurking in your chambers."

 

"One last thing before you go." Terrae says visibly frowning. "I need an unfiltered opinion. If your troops are running low on supplies, would you push on to the nearest area where they can resupply or would you let them pillage a nearby city for supplies?"

 

"You find them disposable, no?"
She opens a portal, turning away.
"If they're just an asset to you, then that's a silly question."

 

Terrae throws his map in the air, defeated.
"Whatever the matter. Feel free to visit, but next time please do not wait for me in my own chambers."

 

She glances back before heading through.

"...By the way, it'd be better to have them hold their ground and send a smaller force to resupply them."
She closes the portal without waiting for a response.

 

"Ah! Of course!" Terrae says, grabbing the map.
He calls for a couple of generals.

 

"Yep."
He jumps behind the wyvern and makes himself small.

 

Two rush in, more footsteps echoing down the hall.

"Sir?"

A jet of fire blasts out of the cave with a spike-covered dragon emerging behind it. It roars before the wyvern smashes the vial against its face and it stops.
"...Oh, sorry. Come on in, and put the cover back on. It's a bit cold in here this time of year..."
The wyvern nods as the other dragon slinks back into the cave.

"...I didn't tell him I wasn't alone. Stay close to me, you two."
"Don't need to tell me twice." Anne mumbles.

 

"The crystal fleet?" Katie asks.


"Then whom?" I ask.

 

"Yeah, remains from the draconian's defiance of O'rogal. The entire fleet used to be one supermassive vessel, but when he struck it down, it shattered into thousands of smaller vessels. Out of respect for their ability to flow with the tides, he gave the entire fleet his blessing so that they could never be sunk."


She shakes her head.
"I-it's just what you said about dad..."

 

"Got it."
He follows the wyvern and tries to stay as close as he can.

 

"Who's O'rogal?" Katie asks.


I stay quiet for a moment.

"I'm...sorry I had to be the one to tell you." I say.

 

"High god of water in this reality. Currently mind controlled."


"I-I'll just act like you didn't. Keep him from worrying..." She sighs.

It's hard to stay close when his tail swings back and forth, but after a few close calls between his tail and your face, you make it to the main body of the cave.

"...You didn't mention guests."
The wyvern shakes his head.
"They are with you... right?"
Nod.
"Then I could care less. Make yourselves at home... just don't bother me."
The dragon wanders off into a darker part of the cave.

 

"Wouldn't Gaia be the god of water?" Katie asks.


I pause for a moment, summoning a necklace with a black gem before deciding against it and desummoning it.

"Well...I hope he doesn't get suspicious about you coming to visit us." I say.

 

"No, Gaia's the goddess of earth and life."


"That's why I only do so on the holidays. It doesn't seem as weird then."

 

"Weird. She's the goddess of the Earth and life in my reality." Katie says.


"Couldn't you just fake a desire for greater freedom or wanting to go on a scout mission to hang out with us?" Shadow Stephanie asks, "You seem cool. I'd offer you a pair of shades but your father would probably get suspicious, and or be able to open a portal to our reality with them."
