The feathers shift a bit, so someone's in there.

A few minutes later, the feathers retreat inside the mound, still nothing coming out.

 

"These are humans, they've killed us, Guardians, and are in the process of killing Gaia's planet." Shadow Stephanie says bluntly.

 

I try to get a better look through the hole in the top.

 

"Oh, come on. Even the Hive Master took a day off for Aj's birthday. You can wait a few days to go on a murder spree."

It's extremely small, just enough to be a little air vent. However, you think you see a curled-up raptor through the tiny hole.

 

I sit back down, waiting.

 

"I haven't been on a murder spree for ages!" Shadow Stephanie says.

 

A few other raptors emerge and enter the other dens, but the one you're waiting on stays quiet for a few hours, until the same tail feathers from earlier stick back out from under the edge again.

"So you're choosing the one time of year everyone's trying to be together with their families to go on one?"

 

"Death is unbiased. I don't think Mortius really cares what time it is when people die." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

I stay still, watching.

 

"Yes Nemmek, I'm tired too."

I continue along the camp to see if Raygyon has left

 

"We should get on with that and get our clothes."

 

"Death is unbiased, but the living aren't."

The feathers eventually shift back in, a raptor head pokes out, looks at you, then goes back in as feathers stick out again.

Aral'hrah then pokes his head out.
"Hey, robot. What's going on?"

"We'd need to call the Leviathan."
"...You have dragons here, you can be flown." Rema comments.
"Well, I'll leave it up to Bardock."

He follows you, lagging behind a bit.

Ragnyon has indeed finally left, a few soldiers working on cuffing the prisoners.

 

"Hey. Just thought I'd drop by. Haven't seen you guys in a while."
I smile.

 

"Your point being?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

"To be honest.. I want to ask the Leviathan if he knows anything about my pack and where they went."

 

"Good job men. I want you to lock these prisoners up as far away from any access to the underground as you can. They cannot be allowed to return."

 

"Things have been nicer. We're not out in the wind anymore."

They ignore you as they march off.

Rema nods.
"Fair enough."
"Did he ever tell us how to get in touch?"

"Hold off breakig up families until after the holidays."

 

"We can just call him right?"

 

"I mean... probably, but how?"

 

"I won't, but sure." Shadow Stephanie shrugs.
