"Those waves are getting a bit high up, aren't they?"
He sits back and coughs some more to get some of the inhaled water out.

 

"It wasn't just the hive master though." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

Fearing the worst, I return to the commander's camp.

"Sir! There seems to be a group on march from the south. Have your men be on guard, I fear it to be our enemies.'

 

I'll...eat one and let the others run with their tails between their legs.

 

"I know... they killed Sapphire."

Eating a soul as a soul isn't really an option.

He nods.
"To arms, I know you heard the seer!"

Nemmek flips his tail, unsure.

Did you forget about the tides?

It stings a bit, but you feel like you've got most of the water out.

 

"What?" Shadow Stephanie asks, surprised.

 

Ihra nods.
"Milla was freaking out over it, saying her death gave the heartless access to knowledge of the magic she used... but mostly just screamed about not being done learning."

 

"The heartless? Wouldn't it have been the nobodies that stole her knowledge? I don't think the heartless know much more than to attack anyone with a heart." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"I dunno. Heartless, nobodies... they're all broken creatures. Besides, Sapphire's knowledge remained in her bones. That's why she went completely unresponsive when Aj tried to replace her everything."

 

"Broken...I wouldn't say broken is exactly the right word for them." Shadow Stephanie says, stepping back, contemplating.

 

"What else would you suggest? They're missing a piece, wouldn't that make them broken?"

 

"Heartless...they're sort of like us in a way, but...if our genocidal tendencies defined our form instead of our desire. Nobodies, they're...they're like shells. The empty husks of people who used to be, but...changed in a way. They can't feel emotion, because they don't have a heart. I fear what would happen if one of them were to somehow manage to get one though." Shadow Stephanie explains.

 

"Wouldn't that cause them to off themselves?"

 

Shadow Stephanie just shrugs.

"I don't fully understand them, but they've only really become a problem since they got Abigail." Shadow Stephanie sighs.

 

"Then we take Abigail from them. Bait her out, wipe any memories of what she's done, and put her in stasis until we can get her heart and the other half of her soul."

 

"Didn't you see what she did to Aj? She's far more powerful than she was, and I have reasons to believe she's part of an organisation of powerful nobodies. It's not as easy as just hitting her over the head and freezing her," Shadow Stephanie says, serious, "I'm fairly certain Stephanie mentioned something about killing her in order to allow her revival. Abigail and her nobody cannot co-exist."

 

Ihra thinks for a bit.
"Alice. Is she still working for you?"

 

Shadow Stephanie shrugs.

"She does what she wants." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"We both know you can revoke that on a whim. Does she still work for you, or no? She's on the employee list..."

 

"I don't believe so. She just lurks around in Aj so she can watch and feel him make out with Artemis or something." Shadow Stephanie says.
