She looks up.
"Thank you for making me risk my life. It was a good gamble."

 

"What, because the other dragons don't like you?"

 

"No, because it was a good thing to do. You're not bloodthirsty like your father was, and I appreciate that."

 

"Good thing I didn't gain that part of his genes then."

 

"I would have been heartbroken if you had succumbed to the beast inside."

Is that an insult?

 

"I think it is." He thinks.
"Haha."

 

"Still, I'm glad to know that I still had a child left. The guardian of the skies seemed to feel the same way."

 

"I didn't even know she had a child. Then again, I only knew about her for a few days."

 

"We were created or born, one of the two. I'm the last of her grandchildren, as you are the last of mine."

 

"So she's my father's grandma, in a way."

 

"It's... more complicated than that, but I suppose that's a fair simplification." Rema chuckles.

 

He laughs
"Haha, I mean, you said I was sort of your grandson, so."

 

"Yes, I know. I don't understand the whole knot of familial relation titles, but I think it's better to use a word that makes sense than one you have to explain to everyone."

 

Bardock chuckles and smiles while looking at the ocean.

 

A long while later, Eve returns to the palace.

 

The waters are calm, gentle waves rolling over Rema's scales (or at least what's left of them), making them glimmer in the moonlight.

Miorah lazily opens an eye, looking at Eve.
"If you wouldn't mind giving us any news about the schedule of execution, that'd be much appreciated."

 

"You're scales look pretty."

 

"Uh, ok." Eve says, heading into the palace.

 

"Thanks. It's the moonlight, isn't it? I saw sea serpents resting on beaches at night, and wondered if it would have the same effect on me."

"It sure does look pretty."
