Gaia nods.
"I'm still mentally catching up with all the recent chaos."

 

"The attack on you?" Praecantatia asks.

 

"I can't think of a different reason at the moment, so I'll just go with that." He smiles.

 

"The invasion of my forests, the raging fires, the siege on my palace, the massacre of my people, the interference of mortal outersouls, the appearance of a vengeful and heartless friend turned fiend, and the appearance of Atavul to attack me in spite... Hell turned to a visit, a tour, and a short break through a reality far better off, and I shame myself for looking at my return with reluctance."

"It makes sense, too."
Pause.
"Did Rema ever tell you when she'd be back here again?"

 

"Uh.. she said she's gonna look if she could ask the other dragons for help. So she probably returns when she does."

 

"You shouldn't feel ashamed to go back to a war you have little chance of winning. You're lucky that you managed to get away, I'd say." Praecantatia says.

 

Gaia nods, then pauses.
"I think you're underestimating your daughter and her friends."

"So we'll be looking for a group of dragons flying in. Sounds good... but don't you think they might worry it's a trap or something? Like, a way for the guardian to kill multiple dragons at once?"

 

"Eh... I don't think the guardian knows about Rema getting the others."

 

"Well, I don't want her going back until she's completely better." Praecantatia says.

 

"You never know, but I doubt Rema would turn on her neighbors."

"You might want to define that. This Ihra... her strength is beyond that of an immortal, and I've seen what she can do when empowered. Utterly devastating... yet not a single innocent soul was harmed in the blast."

 

"Even so, not even you could protect everyone entirely. Extremely strong or not, I don't want Stephanie to go back if she's not well enough to." Praecantatia says.

 

"Same. She's nicer than I first thought."

 

"I'm saying that this Ihra may rush the healing process."

"She seems nicer than we first thought, at least. Hopefully that proves true..."

 

I'm waiting out an angry mob in here, I have the time to look. I turn the house inside out looking for something to cut the string with.

 

"That is correct. I think I should get back to the infirmary as quickly as possible."

 

"All we van do is wait now and take care of Gram until they return."

 

There's nothing, except now you've left a royal mess.
Maybe you could make the bed. It seems like they were prepared for you to make a holdout.

"Right... what should I do now? Keep scratching away at the tree, or...?"

"We're moving, we're moving!" Wesley and Devarra say simultaneously, picking up their pace a bit.

 

"If you can, I think you should. We don't know how long it'll take for Rema to return, so we should do what we can."

 

Anne nods, sighing.
"They'll be here soon, right? I could go for a nap right now." She whines, scratching away at the tree once again.

 

"If you want to sleep, that's fine. Gram seems.. stable."
