"I understand. But how? I assume you are off-planet, and Phykrah does not take kindly to foreigners."

 

"Gods have tougher lives than we do." I say.

 

"It'll be over soon, don't focus on it too much."

 

"I am very much off-planet, and I'm aware that many do not appreciate disturbance. However, I am near willing to take any risk to give my gifts to you before I die."

"Maybe make an exception for Xlentia?"

"No, she's staring at us. I'm turning." She snaps.

 

"Well, yeah. She just lazes about being a kid." I say.

 

"Let's hope us saying that doesn't get to her. She's like a kid with a giant red button." Ihra sighs.

"...I keep her that way, you know." Emerald comments.

 

"How long have you been listening to our conversation?" I ask.

 

"You're dying? You must be very urgent to get to me, then. How can I reach you?"

 

"Got here a few minutes ago."
"...Well crap." Ihra sighs.

"Well... you can't. I was hoping that you would reach out and allow me to trace back the link."

 

"There is a lot of tracing going on in this case. But, I'll allow it. On one condition."

 

Pause.
"I'm listening."

 

"You give me something powerful from your world, and if you manage to speak to me in person, you speak to only me and the court wizard. Do we have a deal?"

 

"We have a deal if you allow me a condition of my own - I will be coming with a single companion."

 

"I'll allow it. You may begin to trace this link."

 

"Thank you. I hope to see you soon... though I do want to warn you that you live in the domain of my enemy."

 

"Your enemy? Who is that?"

 

"Come here."
He puts an arm around her, trying to comfort her.

 

"A draconian who calls himself the Hive Master. He might not have enslaved your home under his mind control, but your home sits in his domain, and your gods have sworn fealty to him in return for his protection."

Anne seems confused.
"I hate flying now..." She grumbles.
"Hey, we're not going to get to the fire if I don't turn around." The dragoness says. "Should we play it safe or dance with death?"

 

"The Hive Master? He doesn't sound friendly. I hope that his presence won't be of much trouble."

 

"Maybe sending the elites to help other Gaia will trigger something?" I say, trying to lift Ihra's spirits.
