"You've offered, but you have not told me what's in it for you."

 

"Got it. I'll wait till tomorrow then."
Pause.
"Can I stay here?"

 

"Nothing at all. Do you not believe this is simply me offering you help?" Temporus asks.

 

"I find it hard to believe, and you're using my most hated object, but if you're true to your word, then... go ahead."

"Yeah, sure. Do you need a fire for heat, or are you okay in the cold?"

 

"Consider it done." Temporus says, putting his watch back in his pocket.

Caelia closes the portal, sighing.

 

"I'll just cuddle with Anne. She has a higher body temperature."

 

"That fox? I thought she was dead! Is she just sleeping?"

"Sorry... I've lost too much to throw away my people's hope." Ihra says, facing Caelia.

 

"I can see you care very deeply about them." Caelia says.

 

"Yeah. Atleast.."
He walks over to Anne and feels for a pulse.

 

"They're all I have."
Ihra glances around a bit.
"Well... I suppose it's due time to start again...?"

Pulse found, strong.
Breathing.
She's definitely alive.
"Funny to have a piece of prey as a friend. I can't blame you for it; the personality is what counts."

 

"We are talking, are we not?" Mortius asks.

Caelia puts her fingers into a square, closing an eye and focusing them around Ihra, before bringing them toward her eye. Ihra finds herself beginning to grow, before she's big enough to sit on one of the god's chairs.

 

"I know. We get along well, and that's what matters."
Pause.
"I mean, I met a vampire the other day. We normally should be enemies, but he was really friendly."

 

"Well... I suppose."
Ihra gets off the table, kneeling next to it instead of sitting down in a chair.

"A vampire? That's another rarity. Did you get their name?"

 

"So, you wanted to ask us for aid with your people suffering from war?" Caelia asks.

"Which I think we should help with." Gaia adds.

 

"No. We didn't introduce each other."

 

"Yes... I understand your concerns with my people turning their backs. However, I hope you understand that even if you agree to open your doors to refugees, they will still be tormented. They will be outsiders - a fact that many mortals and many of you will not forget, or let them forget. They will not know your rules, and may not abide by them. However, you cannot know a person until you give them a chance to be themselves. I ask you to please give the many suffering souls of my reality a chance to heal their wounds, hide their scars, and show you their true colors."
Pause.
"There are bad apples in every basket; my home is no utopia. The occasional bad apple should not ruin the others, however, and I ask you consider looking past their bruised skins and letting them show their honest cores. Were you to leave them all where they sit, not only will they all die, but you will have unjustly punished many out of concern for the few."
Ihra waits for any responses or objections.

"That's a bit of a shame. I hope you run into him again, I'd be curious to meet them."

 

"Why is that? Nothing to special, right?"
He lays down.

 

Gaia seems touched by Ihra's statement.

"You say that the occasional bad apple should not ruin the others, however we have seen that it is hard to tell when a friend has fallen to mind control. Considering your apple comparison, what if one of the apples in our basket has a worm that eats the others?" Caelia asks, "Surely you would not wish the fate of your own reality, where you have come to ours for a safe haven, to be mirrored here?"

 

"Just out of curiosity. It's like how a lot of other things don't know how to react when they see a dragon for the first time."

 

He chuckles.
"So.. Who are those sorcerers?"
