Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Artemis eventually comes to a part of the forest that seems to be blocked off entirely by trees, forest sprites and faeries alike seeming to be flying around the area. A couple of death guardians drop down from the trees above, their scythes ready as a pair of forest guardians seemingly made of wood, their eyes glowing green, form from the ground in front of Ihra and myself, aiming their bows at the pair of us.

"???" Artemis says in a strange language, gesturing to Ihra and myself before pointing past the trees. The guardians lower their weapons, though keep an eye on the trio as Artemis leads onward past the blockage of trees.

 

Ihra says nothing, a faint blue flash around her wings.

 

The guardians trail Artemis, Ihra and myself for a while before eventually going back, the wooden forest guardians sinking into the ground.

Artemis continues through the forest, the forest thinning out a bit before she runs ahead through the trees, orange dead leaves being kicked up in her wake.

 

"Ah, looks good."
He picks up the deer and throws it over his shoulder.
"It is heavy." He smiles

 

Ihra follows, now levitating.

You should probably eat it instead of carrying it around. It's already been cooked.

 

Artemis approaches a large dug-out hill, a few messily placed rocks and tree trunks put around it's entrance to stop dirt and water from getting in, presumably. Ihra can feel the occasional warm breeze coming from outside, and she can hear a low growl every so often.

"I'll go in first, so she knows who I am." Artemis says, slowly and cautiously walking toward the dug-out hill's entrance.

 

Ihra waits, landing.
"I haven't seen hatchlings in a long time." She giggles quietly.

 

"Someone got a knife or something sharp? I don't want to transform for something like this."

 

As Artemis approaches the cave, a large, green-scaled dragon walks out, growling at her.

"Hey, hey, it's ok! I'm a friend." Artemis says, holding up Myria's necklace.

The dragon's eyes widen a bit, slowly walking up to Artemis and sniffing at the necklace, before rubbing it's head up against her, it's growl turning into more of a low hum. Artemis smiles, petting the dragon lightly. Artemis glances over at Ihra, gesturing for her to walk over.

 

Ihra walks over quietly, staying near Artemis and smiling gently.

"I left my sword in the cave!" Ren calls back.

 

"We could use that. Go and grab it."

 

"Turn around!" He calls back.

 

The dragon sniffs at Ihra, before rubbing up against her too, trusting.

There's the sound of rustling within the cave, and three tiny green dragons stumble out, one of them walking over to Ihra and flapping it's small wings slightly, before licking her foot. The larger dragon's low growl increases in pitch slightly as she bows her head to her young.

 

Ihra smiles.
"...should I transform?"

 

"Uhm. Okay. Why?"
He turns around, looking in Ren's direction.

 

Ren's outside of the cave, his sword resting on the mouth of the cave.

 

"What is it?"

 

No response.
The blade has one smooth edge and one serrated edge, the blade and hilt warm.

 

"Could you get it?"
He looks at the weapon.

 

It's two steps away.
