Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I can survive one night without food. If I really need it, I'll probably will break out."

 

You hope he leaves it outside, and as the light peeking through the rocks dims to pitch, you find your bloodlust return.

 

The portal leads through into a large meeting room, everyone sat around a table. Shadow Stephanie sits at the far end of the table, while Artemis, Katie, Myria, Stephanie and myself sit along the sides of the table, an empty seat for Emerald.

"Well, now that you're all here, we can start this meeting." Shadow Stephanie says, getting up.

"I've called you all here to discuss the ritual we need to perform to bring back Ihra. I only recently found out that in addition to the relics we've gathered, we'll also need...a sacrifice. One of Ihra's dear friends, which means, one of us." Shadow Stephanie says, sounding depressed.

Everyone around the table looks rather surprised or shocked, except for me.

"Now, I know this isn't going to be easy. As well as being Ihra's friends, we're all each other's friends too. Deciding who to sacrifice to bring back Ihra is going to be tough, but I hope we can eventually decide who-"

"I'll do it." Myria says, standing up.

"What?" Artemis asks, shocked.

"Myria? Really/ A-Are you sure you want to?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"Yes, I'll be the sacrifice." Myria says.

"N-No! Mother, you can't!" Artemis says, sounding distressed.

"Artemis, ever since I died being sacrificed the first time," Myria says, before glancing at me, "It was my only wish to see you again. I spent so many years watching over you, unable to ever communicate with you. I never would've thought so many years later, Gaia would gift me with the ability to see you again though. My wish has been fulfilled and I've been so happy to be able to meet you again, to give you the knowledge and training I never could when you were growing up without me and to all of your friends. However, my time has long since come and gone. If sacrificing myself allows you to see your friend Ihra again, I'll happily do it so you don't have to lose any of your friends."

"M-Mother..." Artemis says, tears forming in her eyes.

"Shall we proceed with this ritual, Shadow Stephanie?" Myria asks, turning to Shadow Stephanie.

"Oh, uhm, yes. Let's go." Shadow Stephanie says as everyone gets up and heads toward the portal to Xlentia's chamber.

 

Emerald just turns back through the portal, opening a tome as Xlentia gets in position around the sigil.

 

The group follows through, and I get out the relics in preparation.

"Where do I put these?" I ask.

 

They float out of your hand, each resting on a ring in the sigil as it begins to glow, Xlentia quickly passing out.

 

"What shall I do?" Myria asks Emerald.

"Mother, no! You can't!" Artemis says, a few tears running down her face as she grabs Myria's arm and tries to pull her back.

 

"Stand on the sixth circle." Emerald says, turning another page.

 

Myria nods, before turning around and taking off her necklace, putting it around Artemis' neck.

"Artemis, I want you to remember something. No matter where I go, no matter what happens to me, I'll always be with you." Myria says sympathetically, giving Artemis a kind smile and kissing her on the forehead.

"M-Mum..." Artemis says, tears rolling down her face.

"Please, look after her for me, better than I ever could." Myria says as she turns to me, looking me in the eyes.

"I shall." I say, nodding, before grabbing Artemis' arm.

Myria turns around and heads to the sixth circle, standing on it.

"N-NO! MUM!" Artemis says, trying to run after Myria but being held back by me. I look rather saddened myself.

 

Emerald steps forward, holding a small sewing needle.
"I need you to summon your scythe. Gather all of your energy and brace for a single attack."

 

Myria simply takes her scythe off of her back, small green glowing lights floating upwards around her as her eyes glow a dark green, bracing herself for the attack.

 

Emerald drops the needle, and the moment it hits the ground it pierces Myria's heart, reacting proportionately with the strength she has left as the sigil flares up in response.

 

The moment before the needle hits the ground, Myria sheds a single tear, whispering two final words, "Goodbye, Artemis."

The proportionate reaction is massive, Myria just managing to stay standing.

 

Xlentia wakes suddenly, coughing up a glob of blood before passing out again.

Six columns of energy rip through the artifacts and Myria, until all that remains is the needle.


Myria finds herself in a dark room, Ihra laying weary nearby.
"...S-someone... please help..." She utters.

 

"MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM!!!" Artemis screams, tears streaming down her face as she watches her mother be torn apart, before wrenching her arm free and stealing a black crystal from my cloak, opening a portal back to the Realm of Shadows and running through, sobbing.

"Artemis!" I shout, turning to the portal before it closes, but staying behind.


Myria doesn't waste any time contemplating where she is, running over to Ihra.

"I'm here, what's the matter?" Myria asks, kneeling down next to Ihra.

 

Emerald just stares at the needle.


"Wh-
...Myria? How'd you get here?"

 

"A ritual, but me being here isn't important. Getting you back to the real world is." Myria says.

 

"...They got rid of you?" Ihra asks, using Myria to prop herself up.

 

"I sacrificed myself to bring you back," Myria says, helping Ihra stand, "What do I need to do to get you back?"

 

She hugs Myria.
"Just... promise me you'll look out for my friends... even if you can't ever leave here again." She mutters, tearing up.
