Stephanie seems happy, and gets to work stiching another voodoo doll. This one somewhat looks like Ihra.

Katie forms a protective bubble around Abigail, and tries to keep water away from her.

 

Ihra quickly gets curious.
And close.
"What's that? Is it gonna do anything?"

"It's just a voodoo doll. If I wanted, I could bind it to you and have some control over what you do; but I'm not planning on that. It'll be unbound; you can have it when it's finished." Stephanie explains, stiching the voodoo doll; occassionally glancing up at Ihra.

 

"Control me? Like, make me roll around on the ground?"
She doesn't get the point. Good luck.

 

"Well, in a sense." Stephanie says, taking out an Artemis voodoo doll from her cloak.

Stephanie raises the doll's arm, and Artemis raises hers almost in sync.

"Hey!" Artemis protests.

 

"That's... Scary. Would I even know if someone made one that could control me?"
She looks at the doll-in-progress with concern.

 

"Well, there are ways of telling," Stephanie says, "First of all, you might be able to sense some of your soul being copied; or you could have someone make sure your soul isn't tied to anything else. Secondly, you could make a second voodoo doll and use it to sense if there are other dolls like it. Finally, you could try making and binding a second voodoo doll and seeing if it works. Only one voodoo doll may be in control, and only the creator may bind and unbind a soul."

Stephanie stiches two little horns onto the Ihra Doll's head, and stiches a cute smile onto its face.

"Though, you can force control onto another voodoo doll with the right magic." Stephanie adds.

 

"But isn't a soul a little crystal thingy on a pendant?"

Ihra's tomes seem to react to her curiosity, spinning behind her.

 

"Well, that would be a soul crystal," Stephanie explains, "You can bind part of or all of your soul to a crystal; and it allows you to live on if your physical body is destroyed, as long as the crystal remains undamaged. Binding your whole soul to a crystal is very dangerous, however. Destruction of the crystal would mean instant death."

Noticing the tomes, Stephanie stiches a small tome into Doll Ihra's hand, before looking Ihra in the eyes and taking out a pair of coloured buttons; matching Ihra's eye colour.

"Though this is not to say binding your soul to a crystal is without advantages," Stephanie continues, whilst stiching the doll, "You can put enchantments onto your crystal to protect your soul; one of which is protection from voodoo magic and the like."

 

"What?"
"Ihra, hon, soulcores are different. They're totally different things."
"...Oh. Do I have a soul?"
"Yes, Ihra. You do."
"Do I have a soulcore?"
"No."
"Then-"
"I told you, you're a special case."

 

Stephanie stiches the eyes onto Doll Ihra, and seems happy with it.

"Finished!" Stephanie says happily, handing Ihra the doll.

It's a smiling, doll representation of Ihra; tome held in its right hand.

"What do you think?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Well, I have millions of books... Could be written in there somewhere."

 

Ihra examines it, then summons and puts it in her box.
"I like it. I just can't carry it."

"...Oh."
Icicle starts down towards the lake.
"Can we look closer?"

 

Stephanie smiles, "You know, voodoo dolls have more uses than just physical control," Stephanie says, "For example, you could bind yourself to one, and all physcial damage you take would be ported to the doll; repairing the doll would repair you too."

"Though, I think I'll just stick to the mundane dolls for you and your friends." Stephanie says calmly.

Stephanie examines the box, "You've learnt pocket-dimensional storage?" She asks, curious.

 

Rineth answers for her.
"You hear me, correct? I'm a product of her magic. Pocket-dimensional storage isn't exactly as far as she goes. Necromancy from memories is maybe her most notable ability."

 

I look around for you, staying alert, and suddenly you realize a wave of water is rushing towards you. "A good offense is a great defense" I say, proud of myself for attacking.

"Yes, definitely." I walk after him, feeling refreshed in this place.

 

"But a great defense is not a good offense."
I take a swing at the tree.
I rocket-boot off of the tree, and into the sky.

 

Several spears made of water form around in the sky, and one by one they charge towards you.
