"True, but that'd be a pretty un-guardian-like thing to do."

"I assume the other gods think you childish or unfit, then?"

 

"Yeah..." Praecantatia says, sighing and closing the cat videos, bringing up a black GUI, "Let's just see if we can recover your memories."

 

"There is a time for leisure, but less so for a god. I feel for you, but... I'd like to recover if possible." Emerald sighs, stepping closer to the monitor.

 

Praecantatia wheels herself over to one of the machines in the room, seeming to be a chair with a helmet. Praecantatia takes the helmet off of it's holder, offering it to Emerald.

"Put this on. You might feel a slight zapping sensation in your skull." Praecantatia says, offering the helmet. The helmet appears to be equipped with a visor, wires running all over the top of it.

 

Emerald sighs, putting it on.

 

Praecantatia goes back to her computer and begins typing, before Emerald blacks out.

Emerald wakes up back in the Realm of Shadows, Stephanie, Shadow Stephanie and Katie all seeming to be having their tea party again. However, time appears to be frozen.

 

She tries to move.

 

She can move about just fine.

"Em**al*, c*n you he*r me?" Praecantatia's voice fuzzily says from around Emerald.

 

"Not clearly." She responds.

 

There's a brief pause.

"How about now? Can you hear me any better?" Praecantatia's voice says clearly, as if she was right next to Emerald.

 

"Yeah. This some kind of memory reader?"

 

"Yeah, you got a point there. But still, if you're a guardian, why shouldn't there be a reason to trust you."

 

"Exactly my point. If we can't be trusted, how can we do our jobs?"

 

He smiles and then is quiet for a bit.
"So... are we almost there? It feels like this trip is longer then normal."

 

"No. Remember, you fell asleep last time."

 

"In a way, yes. Currently, you're sort of within your own mind. I brought you back to one of your more recent memories, but, like a lucid dream, you have control over what you see. Try focusing on the memory right after the ones you've forgotten; perhaps where things might have seemed like time has jumped forward." Praecantatia explains.

 

She focuses, trying.
...she remembers waking up weary, though her mind skips to thinking about the ritual.

 

The scene around Emerald changes to what she imagines the ritual to be like.

 

It turns into an image of Emerald catalyzing a reaction involving the five relics, a portal waiting for a sixth object before it ends.

 

"You need to focus on your memories, Emerald. You're in control here." Praecantatia says.
