Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"And there's no other way around it? Like, not cloning or anything?" Shadow Stephanie asks, making sure.

 

"Correct. Original body, original mind, original soul. Must be someone this Ihra likes."

 

"What if Ihra doesn't like them? Or, isn't exactly the closest of friends with them?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

"They simply won't be absorbed into the ritual."

 

"And then what?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

"You'll just need to try offering a different person."

 

"Oh...I see," Shadow Stephanie says, looking away, "Thanks."

"Uh, Miss Praecantatia? Would it be possible for me to get some blood for dessert? Just a glassful, chilled if possible." Shadow Stephanie asks.

"Sure." Praecantatia says with a sympathetic smile, getting up and heading out into the kitchen.

 

"I'll try my best not to."

 

"I feel like that's an important detail for whoever told you about the ritual to overlook."

"Don't transform and chase a random vixen."

 

"There was a reason why I did that. I don't run around chasing random animals."

 

"I can...see why you did." Shadow Stephanie says, not making eye contact as Praecantatia brings her a glassful of blood, red ice cubes floating in it.

"Thank you." Shadow Stephanie says, accepting the glass and drinking some of the blood, before sighing.

 

"...What?"

Anne smirks.
"No cheating on me."

 

"N-Nothing, don't worry about it." Shadow Stephanie says, sipping her drink lightly.

 

Emerald glances at her nervously before nodding and looking back down at her lap.

 

The table is silent for a bit.

"Mother, could I be excused from the table?" Stephanie asks, breaking the silence.

"Yes, you may." Praecantatia says.

Stephanie gets up and takes her now empty plate out into the kitchen, but doesn't return.

 

Emerald winds up falling asleep in her seat.

 

Emerald feels a force lightly pick her up, before she's put down somewhere soft.

 

She wakes the moment she's moved, sending out a small electric shock around her.

 

Emerald finds herself being put down into a soft bed in a large, but dark, bedroom, a door at the opposite end. A portal seems to have just closed above her.

Emerald can just about hear the sound of crickets coming from what looks like a window covered by curtains.

 

She sighs, overloading herself with residual magic energy and then falling asleep.
