Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Shadow Stephanie gives a thumbs up, taking a seat at the table.

There seems to be an extra chair for you.

 

I briskly walk over to the table, taking my seat.
"Hey."
I smile.

 

Emerald yawns.
"I meant, fill me in on shit... like who the hell you are."

 

"I don't know. I was planning on going alone, but you can join if you want."

 

"You have your little vixen to go with you. I can't just leave now."

 

"I don't want her to get hurt. Same with you ofcourse."

 

"Hey Thirteen!" Katie greets happily.

"Would you like some tea?" Stephanie asks.

 

"No thank you."
I smile.
"I'm not all that much of a drinker."

 

"Oh, alright." Stephanie says, content.

Shadow Stephanie takes an empty cup and pours herself a cup of hot tea, sipping it lightly.

 

I just relax, rolling my shoulders a bit.

 

Katie and Shadow Stephanie eventually start chatting about guardians, Stephanie listening happily as she enjoys her tea.

 

I joyfully listen in as well.

 

"I spoke with her before you woke up, offered her a chance to explain herself to me without speaking through you. I found that she has a big heart, but her ways of getting it across are... strange."
Pause.
"Besides, she can use magic. I can't. On an island brimming with magic, you will eventually need magic yourself. So, I think she can keep you safe."

 

"Well, I have employed hybrids like that. I have them working jobs best suited for them, I'd just hope they'd tell me or their supervisors if they weren't happy." Shadow Stephanie says.

"I still like being a pure water guardian though. As much as being a death and water guardian hybrid would allow me to much more easily specialize in different kind of liquid magics, being a pure water guardian feels right for me." Katie says cheerfully.

"It is quite interesting to see all the variations of a death-water guardian though. Oil guardians especially, half the time I mistake them for another Shadow." Shadow Stephanie says, slightly embarrassed.

"Well, I'm sure you know that there's similar variations of air guardian too. I think mixing elemental magic with a hybrid guardian really opens up a lot of opportunities for variation." Katie says.

"Sure, but we still need singular element guardians like you around. You can master your base element, whereas a hybrid probably wouldn't be as powerful as you with water or even their own special element as a whole." Shadow Stephanie says.

"That's true. Power sort of gets split between the two elements of a hybrid, so if in our examples we mix death and water to make something like poison, they'd only have fifty percent water and twenty five percent death," Katie says, "Because poison is a liquid that kills a lot of living creatures."

"Maybe I could get a poison guardian to extract the poison in Aj and Artemis then." Shadow Stephanie says, laughing a bit.

Katie looks confused.

"They started drinking again." Shadow Stephanie clarifies, sighing.

"I do find it quite interesting how hybrid guardians specializing in a mixed element actually fit into guardian society. Guardians protect the base elements of Earth, don't they? What use would a poison guardian have with protecting poison?" Stephanie asks, joining the conversation.

"Well, we also keep our elements in balance too. If there was too much water, Earth would flood. Plants and fish have poison in them, but if there was too much of that, everything would start to become unbalanced, so poison guardians can more specifically keep poison levels in check around their areas, which in turn helps death guardians that are also party responsible for poison too." Katie explains.

"Hm, that actually makes a lot of sense. I don't actually have a lot of information on hybrid guardians and their variations in my tome, strangely." Stephanie says.

 

"How many guardians do you have? Do you get any more?"
I ask, joining in.

 

Emerald interjects.
"Hold on... this place is in another reality entirely, isn't it? I... think I would know what a guardian was..."

 

"I don't really know a specific number, but we have a lot of them either working or just visiting the city," Shadow Stephanie says, "We have a common enemy, humans, so we just decided to team up. Shadows don't kill guardians, guardians help out Shadows, with respect for each of our boundaries. I haven't employed a large batch of guardians in a long while though, I haven't really needed to."

"They're all free to leave whenever they want to as well, they're given access to the portal room to get back to wherever they want on Earth." Katie says happily.

"Generally, yes." Shadow Stephanie says, nodding.

"Do you know what a Shadow or Light creature is? Or of the Goddess of Magic, Praecantatia?" Stephanie asks.

 

"A shadow is a being of pure darkness, and a light creature I would presume to be that, but with pure light. As for the goddess of magic, there is none - so I would assume that this is indeed an alternate reality."

 

Stephanie nods.

"I don't really know if my reality has a special name or anything. I guess it's just...the reality you're in now where I come from." Stephanie says, laughing.

 

"So... how do you know me? I recognize none of you..."
