Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The girl leaves, sitting down in one of thr hallways, tired.

 

"I think you're underestimating how far I've thought this through." I say, looking at the pocket watch as several arcane beams fire into the water.

 

"I can understand that."
I nod, and slow down.

 

She's left alone for the most part, though a couple chimera sniff at her in passing.

She keeps stumbling as she goes, clearly humiliated.
"I can now understand the benefits of forfeiting parts of your body for prosthetics when you aren't injured..." She grumbles.

"I probably am. I leave the future to the prophets."

The water bends around the beams, but it seems to be starting to slow. You must've finally landed a shot on her.

Anne hesitates.
"...The Leviathan should always be going back and forth across the ocean. Maybe we should wait to go until the lunar cycle resets... the full moon is tomorrow."

 

I help her support herself, but I don't say anything.

 

"Yeah, let's do that."

 

She keeps quiet until about halfway to the library.
"...Sorry for giving you a hard time. Thanks for the help."

"...Are you feeling okay?" Anne asks, concerned.

 

"You're the one who has no idea what's going on. No reason to apologize."
I smile.

 

"A personal problem has little business being shared with others."

 

"Yes. Why?"
Pause.
"It might be better if we leave after the luna cycle resets."

 

"That's the idea. If you... turn... the dragons won't try to knock you unconscious. And I don't want you to die."

 

"Siln is nice. He won't knock me out, I think."
Pause
"But you're probably right."

 

"I mean, the centaur tranquilized you. The dragons would probably just kill you... waiting for the full moon to pass should minimize that risk."

 

"Yeah, that's probably the best."
He looks at the forest.
"Should we head back to the pack?"

 

The girl makes sure to show her sharp teeth as they sniff at her; not aggressively, however.

 

"Your loss of memory happens to be more than a personal problem."

 

"...You feeling well enough to walk that far?"

"Okay, other than Xlentia..."

A few hurry off anyways, one ignores her teeth, and another bare fangs back at her. None of them stop.

 

The girl looks around for anyone else walking by.

 

Thirteen is helping a less-than-thrilled Emerald back to the library. Nobody else passes by.

 

The girl gets up and stalks Thirteen and Emerald, curious.
