Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"A queen and a king." He laughs.

 

"I guess you would inherit that title, wouldn't you?" She giggles, curling up on your back.

 

"Oh, ok." Katie says innocently, offering Eric a present wrapped in deep blue paper, mermaids and sea stars patterned across it.

 

"Sometimes it's important to. But, sometimes it can hurt."

 

I open it carefully, not really expecting much as I continue to keep tabs on Shadow Stephanie.

"Yeah, but a lot of things hurt."

 

"Think so. But that's your decision."

 

"That's... one way of looking at things."

 

The pair seem to be arguing, rather annoyed at each other as Stephanie and I try to break it up.

Katie smiles at Eric as he opens it, and beneath the wrapping seems to be a large and a small box taped together.

"I got you a couple of things I think you'll like, since I thought one of them wasn't enough." Katie says happily.

 

"Well, I'm not even sure what I'm the queen of, so if you don't mind being the king of nothing-in-particular, be my guest."

"Well, something's already more than the nothing I expected to get." I say, opening both boxes at once - unable to hide the grin of amusement at the argument.

"I do me, you do you."

 

I just nod, continuing to think, and Crystal starts thinking as well.

 

I open a present while I wait, clearly not having an agenda in mind.

 

"I don't know."
He chuckles.
"It does mean we have to get married though."

 

"I dunno. You went from hating me to loving me. You think your pack leader will mind?" She laughs.

 

The larger box contains a set of folded light armour rather similar Katie's in design, though unlike Katie's, it seems to be a full suit of it instead of just a shirt and shorts. The boots seem to be small flippers, and pair of webbed gloves are included, as well as a helmet with a black mesh where the mouth would be. The smaller box contains what seems to be a metal rod with a swirling blue and red crystal at the end of it.

A small coupon for diving lessons seems to be included with the armour.

"That armour should let you swim and breathe in the water like me, and I got you a coupon for some lessons on how to use it," Katie says happily, "Stephanie helped make me that rod. It allows you to create icy fire."

 

"That sounds fun. Thanks! I've always been told I should try and learn to dive, so this is good motivation."
Pause.
"Okay, maybe in a few years. The water where I live is freakin' cold as hell."

 

"I don't know how the pack will think about it."
Pause.
"They don't like you and I don't know what they'll think of me if I let you join the pack."

 

"Well, if I was a part of your pack, then I wouldn't be trespassing, right?"

 

"Oh, the armour's designed for that! It might still be a bit cold at first, but it won't be so bad after you've swam about for a bit," Katie says happily, "Where do you live, by the way?"

 

"True. But still."
Pause
"If you joined the pack, they wont go from hating you to liking you the moment you join."

 

"Some place called Alaska. In other words, a really freaking cold place. Fun, right?
...Well, maybe for you. Not really great for a human."
