"I figured that I could, like, answer a question or two as a thank you for not quitting after, like, two years of your adventure thing."

 

"That's nice!"
"Questions? Like, what kind."

 

A strong smell of alcohol rises from the flask.

"It'll make you more fun, but I'd say it'll have the opposite effect if you drink too much." Shadow Stephanie says, smirking.

Stephanie sighs, rolling her eyes.

"If you want some energy, you're welcome to drink some of this," Stephanie says, offering the light blue potion, "I wouldn't drink too much of my Shadow's alcohol, because you'll probably pass out if you drink more than a shot."

I stifle a laugh.

 

"I dunno. Stuff that doesn't make sense to you, I guess." He shrugs. "Don't ask how I know, either. I just do, for your purposes. Clear?"

"Legal age is 21 over here." He grins, closing it and tossing it back.
Eric takes the potion and downs half of it.
"I need to be sufficiently out of it when I go party later... not drunk. I seem drunk just fine on my own."

 

"Cool!"
"Alright, makes enough sense for me."

 

"No, but when I was younger I lost my parents and had to start over."

 

"Also, try and keep in mind that I'm not going to lie to you guys. You know, because people love duping other people."

"That sucks."
Pause.
"Was it hard? I mean, I killed mine out of spite, so I don't really know how hard it is to lose parents that don't suck."

 

Eric feels a massive jolt of energy flow through him, dying down slowly before staying consistent. The potion tastes rather sweet, with a slight aftertaste of an energy drink.

"Pfft, fuck the police. In my world, legal age is eighteen. My booze comes from that world, therefore you can drink it at eighteen." Shadow Stephanie says, catching it.

"Stephanie, that's not how it works." I say, putting a hand to my head.

"Shut up, I'm trying to get this guy drunk for fun." Shadow Stephanie hisses at me quietly.

"You don't need to drink to have a good time," Katie says positively, "I'm sure Abigail will agree from her experiences with drinking."

 

"It was difficult in the beginning, but after a few months you just had to leave it in the past and live on."

 

"Why would you lie to us anyways?"
"I'm still taking everything you say with a grain of salt, but don't take it personally."

 

I hand the potion back.
"Worth."
Pause.
"I hate the taste of alcohol anyways. Also, isn't it a depressant? I have enough of those in my life."

"That sucks. You still moving on?"

"Everyone should take everything I say with a grain of salt, if I don't include a free bag in the first place." I laugh.

 

I smile, and Crystal just looks confused.

 

"Don't worry about it, Crystal. Metaphors are confusing."

 

"...Alright."
I stay silent, starting to think.

 

"Dark, I like it," Shadow Stephanie comments, "Besides, if you drink alcohol thinking it's a depressant, it'll make you depressed. Otherwise you'll be fine."

"Shall we start handing out our gifts now instead of trying to inebriate people, Stephanie?" Artemis asks, narrowing her eyes at Shadow Stephanie.

"You say that like you didn't used to drink poison as a replacement for alcohol, Artemis." Shadow Stephanie retorts.

"Guys, it's Eric's birthday! This isn't a time for arguing with each other!" Katie says, worried.

Abigail laughs slightly, amused at the pair arguing.

 

"Don't think too hard. You get, like, a day of me running my mouth to come up with questions or stuff."

 

"Yeah, I'm just try not to think about it to much."

 

I smile.
"Katie, I'll take your gift first. I find this... entertaining."

"Sorry to bring it up again."
Pause.
"I mean, shit, we already sound like a married couple!"

 

"They still should be good questions, though."

 

"Bah, don't overthink crap. I do it all the time, then opt to just run my mouth."
