Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"If you wanna look around, go ahead... exit's the same as the entrance. I'll be hunting for a mirror slime once this wears off. Then I'll get back to you..."

 

"We could tell the others that you can be trusted." Kenas suggests.


"I-If you stole my soul, w-where am I now?" Abigail asks.

 

"I should go back... the barrier may have faded. Is the jewel multi-use?"

"...But how would I get back?"


"You're in me. I am hiding, because I was framed. Your friends think I pulled the plug on your resurrection - that's a blatant lie."

 

"Yeah, it only sends you here, though, doesn't send you back."

 

"Any of us can take you back here." The doctor says.


"I-I'm in you?" Abigail asks, confused and scared.

 

"Oh, so that's what's gonna happen? Well, when I fall asleep, make sure that I'm sleeping somewhere save."

 

"You might need to send me back."

"Will you be able to track me, though?"


"Hold on a second."
Abigail feels herself go numb, then sees herself as Ruby.
"There. Now you can see and feel what I do."
She seems to be hiding in a cave system, a small flame from her claw the only light.
"I'm sorry, I don't have your body. You're stuck inside me for now."

"Well, I'll do my best. I can't carry you, though."

 

"The scout team we have is very good at tracking people without getting caught." Kenas says happily.


"I-I don't like this, I want to go back to my friends! I-I don't want to be inside someone else!" Abigail says, panicking and crying again.

The flame from Ruby's claw flares up, almost as if reacting to a part of Abigail.

 

"If you think you can manage it, I'll put my trust into you."


"Hey, hey, hey! It doesn't work that way, okay?! You need me and I need you. I can't fix that if you don't help me."

 

"We'll be fine, I'm more worried about you to be honest." Kenas says.


"I DON'T WANT TO BE SOMEONE ELSE! I WANT TO BE ME AGAIN!" Abigail cries, petrified.

Ruby starts to lose control of the flame in her claw.

 

"...Why?"


Abigail goes numb, waking in the same black box.
"Look, if I die, you're dead forever. I'm your one shot at getting back." Ruby says, dead serious.

 

"Because if the pirates find out you're on our side, they'll probably execute you." The doctor says.


Abigail just sobs, scared.

 

"...In the off chance it happens, what if they actually want me back?"


Ruby keeps quiet, leaving her be.

 

"Just wait for Sparky to arrive. He can."

 

"That's really up to you." Kenas says.

"All I can ask of you is to not betray us. We're a simple tribe, we don't wish harm upon anyone who wouldn't deliberately harm us. We've lived here for many generations, and we nor our ancestors have done anything evil." The doctor says.


Abigail just keeps crying.

Ruby notices a pair of yellow eyes staring at her through the dark cave, advancing on her.

 

"Who's Sparky?"

"I couldn't bring myself to knowingly fight against you..."


Ruby scans their soul, battle-ready.
"Hey, Abigail? I might need your help..."

 

"I'm glad. I just hope the pirates could be the same as you." The doctor says, sighing.


Ruby...can't scan their soul. It's almost as if they don't have one.

Abigail just keeps crying as the creature the yellow eyes belong to leaps at her. It seems rather small, a pair of antennae on it's head and clawed hands outstretched for Ruby. It's entire body appears to be a deep purplish black.

A few more of the creatures seem to rise out of the ground around Ruby, advancing also.

 

"...Perspective is fickle, isn't it...?"


Ruby fires off a beam of energy, annoyed.

 

"Perspective is unique." The doctor responds.


The creature is killed quite easily, though five more seem to have appeared.

 

"My bear companion."
