Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, I hope you do eventually break it. Curses are cruel magic." The doctor says.


"Who...are you?" Abigail asks.

 

"Thank you. I hope so as well."


"One question at a time. Answer me first, please."

 

Kenas returns with a sharp looking metal dagger.

"Is this good enough?" Kenas asks.


"L-Let me go!" Abigail cries.

 

The door actually leads outside, into a strange-looking area.
The sky's a nice white-blue, and so is the ground, but there's no apparent sun or moon. In every direction there's nothing, except for a log cabin, and a giant machine alike the one in the blueprint.
The statue keeps walking towards the machine.

 

Keila keeps following it.

"Yes, it will do. Thank you."


"...If I do, you will return to nothing. Please, calm down. Now, I will ask you again - do you remember how you were killed?"

 

As Keila gets closer, she notices Voidfiller walking up to her.
"Hey! Glad you came."

 

"I suppose you know exactly what questions I have, considering you made the blueprint."

 

"Well, I can predict some of the questions."
He admits.
"I made the blueprints for these guys to get the gist."
He gestures to a bunch of golems working on the machine.

 

"In that case... if the blueprint is for them, why give one to me?"

 

"So you could see what I was working on. I didn't even know if you yourself would come."

 

Kenas smiles.

"Do you wish to return to your own reality?" The doctor asks.


Abigail breaks down in tears, scared, shaking and panicked.

"I-I...I want to g-go back to my friends. I don't w-want to be p-part of someone else." Abigail says through streams of tears.

 

"With something as important as the storm barrier, it's hard not for me to be wary of a device meant to maintain it for me."

Mary seems cross, glaring at the doctor.
"I'll go back when I'm ready to die. Here, I'm no total weakling. Here, I have the strength to kill. Here, I'm cared about and not left to die." She protests.


"Hey, hey, hey, give me a chance. You can't go back to your friends right now - you need to be in me. If you insist, I promise I will let you out... but if I do, you will never be the same person again. You will die, and your friends who seek to revive you will have to start from scratch. Please, I know I have wronged you, but this time I'm being framed. Please, give me one last chance." They beg.

 

"Well, did you bring the blueprint?"
He asks, looking at her hands.
"I can update it for you."

 

She hands it to him.
"Of course. It's like asking details for a question you don't have."

 

He takes it, looks a it for a bit, then gives it back.
"Here you go."
Each label has a definition now, and there's a few more labels as well.

 

She looks over the mirror slime and storage crystal.
"You're a strange being, Voidfiller."

 

He shrugs.
"I get that a lot."
The mirror slime info reads:
"A being known to absorb magic used around it, replicate it, and use it again in dire situations. The bigger the slime, the more powerful magic that can be absorbed. Multiple reports show that it usually has no idea what it's doing, though, other than activating whatever magic it has stored. Herbivore, passive."
And the storage crystal info reads:
"An object that safely contains magical energy for later usage. Often used in machines either in a large form or in wires, or just used as a storage unit."

 

"Okay."
He lays back down.
"Sparky must be sleeping or something."

 

"I was simply inquiring if you were homesick. There's no need to take that tone." The doctor says calmly.


Abigail just cries for a while longer.

"W-What do you want f-from me?" Abigail asks.

 

"So, what? We need to keep feeding the slime and then scaring the daylight out of it?"

"It's been all of a minute. The fire just makes everything seem super long." Anne says.

"...I'm sorry. It's just... yes, I am, but my home has been destroyed by war.l


"I need you to work with me. So, I'll ask again - do you remember how you died? If you answer that, I'll answer one of your questions."
