Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I was able to walk here, so it worked out, I guess."
Pause.
"...Will you be able to hold up if they come back?"

 

There's none. Clearly this wasn't meant for just Keila to read.

 

She tries to work the crystal, curious.

 

"We're capable of defending ourselves if we need to." Kenas says.

 

"...For how long?" Mary asks, worried.

 

After a bit, a portal opens into a small room, holding two small statues inside.

 

"Long enough to drive the pirates away!" Kenas says confidently.

 

Keila enters, holding the contents of the envelope.

Mary nods, still looking worried.
"Doctor, how many casualities did you suffer from earlier, and how far did they get?"

 

"We've lost about 6 guardians, though the pirates don't seem to be advancing toward us." The doctor says.

 

Both statues burst to life as she enters, one running out of the door across the room, and the other walking up to her. The one doing the latter does a little wave as it approaches.

 

Mary thinks for a bit.
"Also, by chance did you find my dagger here? I lost it a while ago. It'll have a purple, jagged blade."

This startles her, but she waves back.

 

"I haven't seen anything like that." Kenas says.

The doctor shakes his head.

 

The statue then makes a motion with their hand to gesture Keila to follow them, as the walk out the door, leaving it open.

 

"Ah, darn. Might you happen to have one I could borrow, then? I can't manipulate this toxin well without one."

She heads inside, still curious.

 

"I can get you one." Kenas says happily, turning to exit the hut.

 

"Thanks." Mary calls, before turning to the doctor.
"Sorry about the mess I'm making... there really isn't much I can do to help it."

 

"It's not your fault if you cannot stop yourself." The doctor says calmly.

 

Mary smiles before looking at her wound.
"Sometimes... sometimes I wonder if my siblings will ever find me. I guess I just hoped we could band together like we did in the past... maybe then we could break our curse."


-Meanwhile...-
Abigail, fully conscious, stirs in a perfectly dark room, a claw shaking her barely-physical body gently.
"Hey... hey! Come on, I know you're up."

 

"How would you break your curse?" The doctor asks.


"Huh? Where am I?" Abigail asks, trying to create a fireball in her hand.

 

"I don't know, but one of my sisters that're super smart might know."


She can't.
"You're... well, in me. And I need your help as much as you need mine. Do you remember how you died?"
