Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"That's certainly interesting. Are there population imbalances due to how long you live?" The doctor asks.

 

"I noticed, but thanks."
He looks at the burns.
"Anyway.. the wounds?"

 

"There seldom are. Reproduction, if you will, is a very, VERY long process. Take a human lifespan, of about seventy years. That's roughly how long it takes an egg to go from development to hatching. Due to the length a child would be vulnerable, we tend to be defensive of our homes instead of defensive of our territories as a whole."

Anne puts a warm paw to one of your burns, the pain and sensitivity melting away.
It leaves a paw-shaped mark, but it hurts a lot less.
"That any better?"

 

"Yeah. A lot better."
He looks at the mark.
"That's cool."

 

"You can probably wash it off later. I think it's just soot."
Pause.
"Geez, how badly did you get burnt? I don't know how many of these I can heal..."

 

"I got burned pretty bad. I don't have any of those fancy powers like you do." He chuckles.

 

"Ah, I see. That makes perfect logical sense." The doctor says, understanding.

 

"Well, I'll try to heal as many of these spots as possible, but if I pass out, you had too many for me to heal." Anne sighs, putting her paw on the side of your face.

 

"Just get the bad ones. Don't want you to faint and make me carry you."

 

"It pretty much all falls down to that. We value our territory, but most of us understand that our lives are typically more important than our pride."

"They all look bad." She laughs, putting another paw on your forehead.

 

"Guess I'll have to carry you then." He smiles while following Anne's paw around.

 

She stops under your eye, behind your ear, works her way around your neck, then stops on your chest and lays down.
"Okay... give me a moment..."

 

"Take your time. I'll wait."
He looks at Anne, then at the healed wounds.

 

You're pretty much covered in sooty pawprints, but the burns under them are no longer sensitive.
Anne is also fairly warm, though it does remind you that the fire's still raging on the other side of the perimeter.

 

"So what about the fire, are we just gonna let it burn? It's stop eventually, right?"

 

"Yeah, it'll stop eventually, but the kitsune know a bunch of water magic and stuff to help control just how large it burns."

 

"That's good. Makes me feel a bit saver."
He stretches his arms towards Anne.
"Whenever you're ready."

 

"Every species' goal is to survive long enough to create their next generation to take after them once they die." The doctor says.

 

"Give me a minute. I'm only a half kitsune."

"Well... not quite. See, we have this term coined 'Mechas,' which can mean anything from a draconian with a prosthetic limb to a brain and a heart in a fully robotic body. Mechas often life longer than full-biological draconians, which causes... some tension."

 

"Surely the mind must numb and corrupt past it's normal lifespan though?" The doctor asks.
